Wonder Woman is a superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics.
Background[]
For thousands of years has existed a race of warrior women called the Amazons on a remote island called Themyscira. This race was created when the Greek gods rescued the souls of every woman who had been slain by a man, however one soul was left behind. This soul would become the essence of Queen Hippolyta's daughter, Diana, who was forged from clay and given beauty, wisdom, love, courage, strength, and the power of flight as gifts from the gods. When Diana was a young woman, the gods decreed that the Amazons must venture out into man's world, and to do so they organized a tournament to see who would be worthy of such a task, though Diana was forbidden to enter due to her royal position. Diana disobeyed her mother and participated in the tournament in disguise, only revealing herself after claiming victory and becoming worthy to discover man's world. Upon arriving, she learned to fit in with regular humans, while also serving as the iconic superheroine of the Justice League: Wonder Woman.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Divine Empowerment: After leaving for Man's World, Diana was gifted with various powers by the Gods of Olympus.
- Superhuman Strength: Diana possesses far greater strength than the finest human athletes. She kept an A.R.G.U.S aircraft from crashing by holding it up. She dispatched numerous Parademons during Darkseid's invasion and broke the Fortress of Solitude's doors down when H'el locked Superman out and took control of it. She has also managed to briefly overpower both Green Lantern and Aquaman, as well as Supergirl. She managed to defeat the goddess Artemis, as well as draw blood from The First Born.
- Superhuman Durability: Diana possesses a high resistance to damage and magical attacks. Her resistance to injury is not quite as great as Superman or Supergirl. However, due to her vast threshold for pain and her Amazonian ability to heal at a superhuman rate, this easily makes up for the difference. She has withstood considerable bludgeoning damage in the form of hand to hand combat with metahuman opponents such as Superman and Shazam. She has considerable resistance to human weaponry, though this is not absolute; bullets and edged weapons can cause minor to moderate injury, but never life threatening. Whether or not however she can survive bullets to vital areas is disputable. She was once mortally wounded by a hail of bullets that bounced off Superman and hit her neck. Alternatively, she also survived being shot by an Eighth Metal bullet to the head. A possible explanation is the bullet's impact being partially absorbed by her tiara which flies off due to the impact.
- Flight: Gifted unto her by the messenger god Hermes, Diana possesses the power to fly at high speeds.
- Superhuman Speed: She is able to think, react, run and move at superhuman speeds. According to the Flash, she can keep up with him if he is at regular cruising speed (but not at top speed).
- Superhuman Reflexes: Wonder Woman's reflexes are far beyond the limitations of the finest human athletes. She has been able to react to a barrage of gunfire from multiple opponents at once unharmed. Batman noted that her reflexes are superior to that of Superman.
- Superhuman Agility: Wonder Woman's agility is far beyond that of even an Olympic level athlete, as is her balance and coordination.
- Superhuman Stamina: Wonder Woman can last a great deal of time in any fight and with virtually anyone. She has held her own in combat with foes as powerful as a Doomsday clone. She doesn't tire out, as her body produces no lactic acids in her muscles.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Granted by Demeter (Goddess of Earth). Like the Earth, Diana is constantly renewing herself, allowing her to quickly heal mild to moderate injuries at an accelerated rate. Her normal regenerative abilities allow her to recover from injury within seconds to minutes. She possesses an incredible immunity from poisons, toxins, as well as disease.
- Regenerative Force Field: Diana possesses a passive force field that accelerates the healing process of the people around her. It can range from healing superficial wounds to prevent the death of humans fallen into a black hole.
- Empathy: Granted by Athena (Goddess of Wisdom). "The Sight of Athena" apparently grants her increased insight. For example, Diana can often detects others' emotions, and is now so fully immune to Doctor Psycho's illusions that she usually is not even aware of what illusions he is attempting to project.
- Charisma
- Animal Empathy: Granted by Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt). Ability to communicate with all forms of animals (including dinosaurs) and her presence alone can bring a raging beast to a calm standstill. She is also able to directly command wild animals when needed. She used bald eagles to distract Superman after defeating him in battle once.
- Enhanced Senses: Granted by Artemis (Goddess of the Hunt). Eyesight, hearing, taste, touch and smell.
- Enhanced Vision: She also possess the "Hunters Eye" which allows her to always hit her mark. She can see to far greater distances than any normal human. After a short period of blindness, Athena bound her own vision to her champion, not only restoring her sight, but granting her further insight as well.
- Enhanced Sense of Smell
- Enhanced Hearing
- Dimensional Teleportation: On occasion, Wonder Woman can literally leave the planet through meditation. She did this to rescue Artemis when she was in hell, and has even conversed with the Greek Gods on occasion.
- Longevity: Diana possesses a longer lifespan than regular humans though far from Immortality. As seen she is at 90's but has an appearance of a young woman.
- Immortality: As a demigoddess, Wonder Woman does not age beyond her prime.
- Magic: When she was a child, Diana was marked by the goddess Hecate and bestowed with a fraction of her magical ability. This power lay dormant until it was activated by the Upside-Down Man. Zatanna remarked that Wonder Woman's magical power was unlike anything she had ever seen or felt, and Diana possessed at least enough power to cast out the Upside-Down Man, an immensely powerful demon, from the world. After the Justice League Dark defeated Hecate, the Witchmarked's power was taken from them and absorbed by Circe.
- Reality Alteration: When Diana was empowered with the World Forge and the Anti-Crisis Energy, she had enough might to shake stars and phase throughout time through sheer strength. She had displayed the ability to shrink an entire planet and was able to link everyone together and restored their memories as one history- one universe.
- Cosmic Awareness: The World Forge/Anti-Crisis empowered Diana was able to see multiple events during the war against The Batman Who Laughs at once.
- Precognition: The World Forge/Anti-Crisis empowered Diana was able to see the past.
- Retrocognition: The World Forge/Anti-Crisis empowered Diana was able to see the future.
- Aviation: Wonder Woman pilots her invisible jet with expert proficiency.
- Wisdom of Athena: Granted by Athena (Goddess of Wisdom). Diana possesses great wisdom and intelligence, though the degree varies from author to author. She is among the smartest and wisest members of the Justice League of America, along with the Martian Manhunter and Batman.
- Multilingualism: Diana has exhibited heightened proficiency with languages, being able to speak her native Themysciran, Ancient and Modern Greek, English, French, Mandarin Chinese (she expressed "difficulty" with the tones of Cantonese during an interview with Lois Lane), Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Plus, through precise muscle control, she can mimic other people's voices for short conversations (on the telephone). It is more difficult, for her to mimic a mans voice than another woman's voice.
- Master Tactician and Strategist: Granted by Athena (Goddess of Wisdom). Diana is an accomplished strategist and tactician, trained in the arts of leadership, persuasion and diplomacy, and possesses a great deal of courage as well. She is a gifted leader.
- Occultism: Diana possesses knowledge and understanding of magic. She has used her magical knowledge to use an alchemical spell to create a portal.
- Equestrianism: Diana is a great horse rider; her favorite mount is her mare Kachi.
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Diana is the finest warrior ever born among the Amazons of Themyscira. She is a master of armed and unarmed combat, proficient with nearly every weapon ever made (especially the bow and the javelin) and the exotic martial arts styles of the Amazons. Batman once remarked that Wonder Woman is the best melee fighter in the world.During her year long absence, bureau surveillance reveal that Diana has spent some of her time with I-Ching. Heavily implying that she spent time training with I-Ching, acquiring some advanced martial arts techniques from him. Diana has even sparred with Batman and Black Canary a couple of times in training exercises, putting her skill almost on par with theirs. Diana's not only well trained, but she's a very an experienced warrior; part of it due to fighting for 1000 years in Valhalla alongside Superman and Thor. Her skill in combat is so attuned, that she has engaged in battle even while blind.
- Weaponry: Wonder Woman is proficient with nearly every weapon ever made, especially the bow, the sword and the javelin.
- Archery
- Swordsmanship
- Throwing
- Godwave: With focused meditation and prayer, Diana can channel the power of the Godwave, one of the primordial cosmic forces of the DC Universe, greatly amplifying all of her abilities and shrouding her in a powerful divine aura. However, overuse of this ability will eventually render her insane, forcing her to use this sparingly.
Equipment[]
- Lasso of Truth: The Lasso, also referred to as the Golden Perfect, is a sacred relic of the Amazons and was given to them by the Gods of Olympus. It was bestowed to Wonder Woman when she embarked to Man's World. The Lasso's most known power is to force anyone ensnared by it to speak only the truth. It also possesses a number of other magical abilities. The Lasso is capable of tethering the hearts and minds of the individuals holding it, creating a telepathic link between them, as well as allowing for language translation. It can also be used to bind and ensnare the souls of beings, including even gods, within it. Diana can use the Perfect to locate individuals who share an emotional connection to her. It can also be used to force a biophysical reset of those who have been corrupted by some external influence, such as poisons and toxins or mind control, who are bound by it. Diana is highly proficient at using the Lasso of Truth as both a tool and a weapon, and is capable of easily binding people and objects using it.
- Bracelets of Submission: Two magic bracelets that can deflect both projectiles and blunt attacks. The Bracelets are comprised of the godly Eighth Metal, one of the strongest elements in the Multiverse. They are almost indestructible capable of withstanding, even deflecting; such force as Darkseid's Omega Beams. In the false life Diana had lived the god of the forge; Hephaestus, had modified her bracelets with the ability to manifest any number of weaponry she desires. After her bracelets were destroyed by Cheetah, Diana went on to use Hippolyta's old Eighth Metal manacles and reforged them using Amazonium to fill in the seams, the same ones that were shattered by Herakles when he dominated the Amazons.
- Golden Tiara: A crown given to the Amazons by the goddess of wisdom, it enhances Diana's senses and strengthens her mind against mental attacks. In addition, it can be used as a boomerang-like projectile sharp enough to slice the throat of Superman and temporarily incapacitate him.
- Atlantiades' Armor: As the new God of Love, Atlantiades can bestow favors on their protégés, such as the powerful armor endowed with the strength of the Erotes that they temporarily gave to Diana.
- Magical Sword: A sword forged by Hephaestus, said to be sharp enough to cut the electrons off an atom.
- Themysciran Shield: Wonder Woman often wields a Themysciran shield to deflect heavy weaponry.
- Invisible Jet: Wonder Woman possesses an airplane capable of rendering itself completely invisible to the human eye. Like her bracelets, Diana's invisible jet is forged with Eighth Metal, making it almost indestructible. The Invisible Jet was originally the aircraft Steve Trevor crashed onto Themyscira; it was repaired by the Amazons and upgraded with their technology.
- Gold Armor: The gold armor is an eagle-like ceremonial battle armor created by Pallas and gifted to Wonder Woman. She donned it whenever she needed to face a powerful villain, such as Devastation or Imperiex. The armor provides protection from explosions, gunfire, electricity, and most forms of physical and energy attack. The helmet has a retractable faceplate. When in use, the wearer has a protected air supply. There were silver and bronze variants, worn by Donna Troy and Cassie Sandsmark respectively. The Gold Armor is an important part of Amazon history. This is the armor worn by a past champion, Asteria. She held back hordes of male warriors while wearing it.
Alternate Forms[]
True Divine Nature[]
Due to the amount of divinity infused into her to bring her life, Diana is technically a goddess, and if Wonder Woman removes her bracelets, she will release her true divine nature. In this state, Wonder Woman has vastly increased stats. She is one of the strongest beings to ever walk the Earth, including the Age of Myth, able to outperform Hercules and was able to physically beat Firstborn, a monstrous being able to destroy the Underworld, an infinite plane of reality. As the God of War after slaying Ares, Diana has control of Ares’ abilities, which she primarily uses for summoning purposes. She can summon lightning, an energy spear, or energy-projectiles capable of one-shotting Metallo. She can also summon up the spirit of every soldier who has ever lived to fight alongside her.

Weaknesses[]
- Piercing Weapons: Diana is very durable when it comes to blunt force. However, she can still be subdued by piercing weapons, such as arrows or bullets.
- Divine Loss: Wonder Woman’s powers are derived from the favor of the gods and her own divine nature, and so she is always limiting herself from going full-out and releasing her god powers in order to retain her humanity. Should the gods abandon her, her divine powers will be lost as well.
- Lack or Long-Ranged Attacks: Wonder Woman also practices the Amazonian code of fairness, and so she lacks significant long-ranged attacks
- Impulsiveness: She is also rather impulsive, prone to listening to what she feels rather than thinking things through.
