| ~ All Might |
Toshinori Yagi aka All Might is the former No. 1 Hero and Symbol of Peace from Shonen anime/manga franchise My Hero Academia. He is also the mentor to the show's main protagonist, Izuku Midoriya.
Background
Before he was the Number One Hero known throughout Japan as All Might, Toshinori Yagi was born quirkless in a world where crime rates were high due to evil running rampant thanks to the influence of All For One. When he realized this as a teenager, he believed that the world needed a “Symbol of Peace” that would inspire people and bring in a new age of harmony. Toshinori chose to become that symbol to make sure there would be a world where everyone can smile and live happily ever after together.
Toshinori was trained by the 7th user of One for All, Nana Shimura. She was the one who passed One for All to Toshinori. However, she sacrificed her life when All For One attacked. Afterward, Toshinori was trained by Nana’s close friend Gran Torino, who was also his homeroom teacher at U.A. Academy. After graduation, Toshinori traveled to the United States for training where he met David Shield and later Melissa Shield. Eventually, Toshinori went back to Japan to continue his work of heroism, becoming the Symbol of Peace and Number 1 Hero as All Might.
The crime rate dropped below 6% thanks to All Might, but All For One was still around. Toshinori gained a new partner in Sir Nighteye, who acted as the brains of their partnership. Eventually, All Might battled All For One and defeated him but at the cost of critical injuries that permanently reduced his use of One for All. While All Might refused to step down as the Number 1 Hero and Symbol of Peace, he knew that he needed a successor for One for All. 5 years later, he became a teacher at U.A. Academy in order to find his successor.
It was after those 5 years that All Might came across Izuku Midoriya, a young boy who was born quirkless. Initially, Toshinori told the young boy that it may not be possible for someone to become a hero without a quirk. However, after seeing young Midoriya risking his life to save fellow classmate Katsuki Bakugo from a villain, Toshinori realized that he found his successor.
Toshinori passed down One for All to Midoriya and helped the boy train in order to master the quirk. It even helps that Midoriya got accepted into U.A. Academy. However, there still existed threats toward Midoriya, U.A. Academy, and the hero society such as the rise of the League of Villains and the return of All For One. While Toshinori continued to teach and train Midoriya into becoming the greatest hero despite the villainous threats, his time as All Might continued to shorten.
Eventually, All Might entered a rematch with All For One. After a lengthy, hard-fought battle, Toshinori emerged victoriously. However, the fight had cost him the last remnants of One for All, ending his career as the Number 1 Hero and the Symbol of Peace. Despite all that, Toshinori devoted the rest of his time on Izuku Midoriya’s training and development into becoming the next Symbol of Peace.
Powers & Abilities
- One For All: Transferred to him from Nana Shimura, Toshinori's Quirk allowed him to stockpile an enormous amount of raw power, significantly enhancing all of his physical abilities to a superhuman level, resulting in unbelievable feats of strength, speed, agility, and durability. Unlike other known users of this Quirk, Toshinori was noted to have an innate instinct for wielding it, mastering it almost instantly with no aid from his teachers. Also, seemingly unique to him, Toshinori's mastery of this Quirk enabled him to morph himself into a towering, powerfully built man to hide his identity from society. All Might was so proficient with One For All thiswn as the world's most powerful person. During the peak of his abilities, he's been shown to deal with many threats at once in mere seconds effortlessly, and even after being grievously injured by All For One and having started the process of transferring One For All to Izuku, he was still capable of achieving tremendous feats above everyone. Despite no longer possessing One For All, Toshinori still has a connection with the Quirk. During the time he held One For All, a portion of his consciousness was imprinted into the Quirk itself, creating a vestige in One For All's mental landscape. This connection allows Toshinori to unconsciously provide the other vestiges information that he learns while also allowing Toshinori to sense the vestiges in One For All and Izuku through a kind of psychic link similar to All For One's connection with Tomura.
- Immense Strength: All Might's most distinguishable trait was his boundless levels of physical strength. A single punch from All Might could not only defeat a villain but completely change the weather subsequently. It also can destroy several city blocks from the wind pressure it creates. Despite becoming severely weakened since first meeting Izuku, All Might's pure, overwhelming strength is still comparable to that of a nuclear device. He quite literally beat the Shock Absorption out of Nomu, forced Izuku and Katsuki into fleeing rather than continue fighting him head-on, and clashed with All For One's attacks and cancel out their highly destructive power with brute strength alone. After defeating Nomu, All Might himself admitted that, compared to his prime, in which he could've defeated Nomu with five hits, it took over 300 blows to defeat the bio-engineered creature. This comparison is another testament to All Might's weakened state.
- Immense Speed: With his immense physical strength, All Might also possessed equally impressive speed. When he arrived at the U.S.J., All Might moved a remarkable distance from the gate and simultaneously incapacitated villains in the blink of an eye. Tomura even says that he could not track his movements despite the latter being slower than he once was. All Might was also able to defeat multiple Nomu swiftly and travel 5 kilometers from the League of Villains Bar towards All For One's location at the Nomu Factory, all in thirty seconds after the Nomu was warped by All For One himself. However, according to All For One, this was much slower than what All Might was initially able to accomplish in his prime. Even in his weakened state, he was fast enough to travel from Might Tower to the Tokyo Egg in seconds. In his prime, he proved swift enough to single-handedly defeat the army of Instant Villains created by All For One and save nearby children all in three seconds.
- Immense Durability: All Might held extreme durability, to the point of being almost entirely invulnerable to attacks. He sustained no life-threatening damage from his battle with the U.S.J. Nomu and took point-blank, full-power explosions from Katsuki without showing any signs of injury. All Might even survived All For One's enhanced Air Cannon, a move that can cause catastrophic, city-wide damage due to being amalgamated with many other Quirks and emerged virtually unharmed, albeit with only some minor scratches.
- Immense Stamina: In his prime years, it was noticed that All Might has never been shown to be exhausted, even when fighting against multiple villains. The only time that All Might was shown to be panting and out of breath was against All For One and the U.S.J. Nomu, and those cases were only due to the injury he received from the former six years prior that also limited All Might from using the maximum output of One For All. In his prime, All Might could do more than seventy-two consecutive hours of hero work and still had enough energy to respond to an emergency call in Osaka.
- Moves:
- California Smash: All Might attacks with a frontal somersault to build up momentum and air pressure and is then released in a smash.
- Carolina Smash: All Might runs towards an enemy while keeping his hands in a cross position, then in a downwards cross chop to the enemy's head. This move is first used against Tomura, but it is intercepted by a Nomu, who withstood the full force of the attack, seemingly unharmed.
- Detroit Smash: All Might performs that same attack as Texas Smash except this move is with a downward punch instead of a straight punch. The punch is powerful enough to create a shock wave large and powerful enough to clear the weather. This move is first used to save Izuku and Katsuki from the Sludge Villain.
- Double Detroit Smash: All Might and Izuku use One For All at 100% and combine their Detroit Smash attacks to create a smash more powerful than anything they can accomplish alone. First used this move to defeat Wolfram.
- Missouri Smash: All Might runs towards an enemy while keeping his hand flat and hits the enemy on the head while running past them in order to knock them out. This move is first used against Habit Headgear.
- Nebraska Smash: While throwing a punch, All Might rotates his arm to create a tornado. This move is first used to destroy a swarm of two hundred Mini-Bombers.
- New Hampshire Smash: All Might punches the air while in the air to propel himself backwards towards his enemy and smashes his body into the enemy, crushing and injuring the enemy with his great weight. This move is first used to propel himself at Izuku.
- Oklahoma Smash: All Might whirls around while enemies have latched onto him, spinning with enough force that when they are released, they are easily thrown through concrete. This move is first used against Nomu however it was named during the Kamino Ward Incident.
- Texas Smash: All Might throws a punch in order to create wind pressure in order to blow objects and people away. This move is first used to save Izuku from the Sludge Villain.
- United States of Smash: All Might throws an immensely powerful punch and smashes his target into the ground. As All Might's final and strongest move, the impact of this smash is so great that it can not only reverberate shockwaves and leave massive craters in the ground, but also spawn twisters powerful enough to carry nearby buildings. This move was used to defeat All For One and marked the end of All Might's hero career.
- Shoot Style Smash: Using the Armored All Might support item, All Might delivers a powerful kick to his opponent. This move is directly inspired by Izuku and his Full Cowl - Shoot Style technique.
- Trained Muscles: Usage of One For All requires the user to have strong muscles, as One For All is a lot to handle and could cause the user's body to be blown apart if they don't possess the necessary body strength. Gran Torino said that All Might, in particular, had a strong body that allowed him to master One For All much faster than previous users.
- Indomitable Will: All Might's will is evident in all his actions as a hero. He is known for saving people with a smile and his catchphrase, "I am here," two facets of being the Symbol of Peace. During the pinnacle of his battle against the U.S.J. Nomu, All Might remembered his resolve to be the Symbol of Peace, and his resolution allowed him to push beyond 100% of his power to defeat the artificial human finally. Another prominent spectacle featuring All Might's willpower was during his last two showdowns with All For One. One of All For One's primary strategies in their fight was to wear down All Might psychologically, such as taunting All Might by mentioning the latter's former mentor and predecessor, Nana, as well as revealing that Tomura Shigaraki is her grandson. The first taunt enraged All Might, while Tomura's kinship to Nana made him despair greatly. However, despite the guerrilla warfare employed by All For One, All Might remember Nana's teachings on heroism and re-established his will, enabling the weakened hero to muster up some of his remaining power to continue fighting. Worn out of his muscle form and faced with inevitable defeat at the hands of a virtually unscathed All For One, All Might could still channel what was left of One For All to defeat All For One in a single strike. All Might possess a powerful presence that has struck fear into others, such as Izuku and Katsuki, during the Final Exam. This aura was strong enough to cause two villains to freeze in terror even though they'd been prepared to kill him and despite him being powerless. Even when All For One crushed his spine and legs, destroyed his armored suit, and blew him away, All Might's unwavering spirit presses him on to keep fighting.
- Teaching: While All Might has shown to be a poor teacher on occasion, as he lacks proper teaching practice and required a script for his first lesson, he does show to have his exceptions regarding training and hero practice. All Might was able to help train Izuku Midoriya's skinny body into a muscled vessel for One For All, having created a training regimen that would allow Izuku to train up his body and safely inherit his Quirk in the limited space of ten months. Furthermore, he realized that Izuku had been deliberately pushing himself to go even further, revealing that he designed the regimen so Izuku could train his body correctly but without completely exhausting himself. This insight shows that All Might greatly understands physical training and the human body's limits. His first practical battle lesson was also designed realistically, with him giving the villain team earpieces to communicate and a map of the building. In contrast, the hero team would only go in without said advantages, replicating a similar experience to heroes storming a villain's hideaway without proper preparation. He also assigned 1-A's partners randomly, as Izuku pointed out that Pro Heroes often have to team up on the spot and use their collaborative skills. Following his retirement, it is revealed that he's studied teaching more intently from a guidebook, as he commended Izuku for having developed his fighting style and was also seen advising Kyoka Jiro during 1-A's Ultimate Move training. This counsel shows that All Might has improved in providing verbal advice and feedback to his students, realizing the steps he needs to take to motivate them without giving them the complete answer.
Equipment
- High Density Weights: All Might and the rest of the teachers use these bracelets to give themselves a handicap while they are fighting their students during the Final Exams Arc.
- Air Pressure Shooting Torso Armor: At one point, All Might wore armor over his torso that was designed to aid him in releasing shots of pressurized air. It was designed to work with 20-30% of his power. Due to All Might's close-range fighting style, the bulky armor ended up being more baggage than it was worth, and it kept breaking, so All Might decided to stop using it.
- Hercules: During the Dark Hero Arc, All Might begins driving a heavily armoured car known as Hercules, which has been shown to be able to survive a point-blank grenade explosion with minimal damage.
- Armored All Might: During the Final War Arc, as All Might prepares to face All For One once more, this car, alongside the briefcase All Might has been carrying since he obtained Hercules, breaks apart and form themselves around his body as a protective suit of armor. The suit was made by Melisa, and for the suit, he commisioned the following:
- He ordered the suit to replicate all of Class 1A's quirks with the use or asistance of technology:
- The Power Suit comes standard with boosters to enhance his mobility and allow him to fly.
- Red Riot- All Might summons several armored plates from Hercules to encase his body, protecting him in a shield of armor. This module was capable of shielding All Might from All For One's Impure Beam, though its shields were damaged by 66%, leaving it unreusable. This replicates Eijiro Kirishima's quirk.
- Blackwhip- All Might fires multiple cables from both arms, surrounding his target and restraining them by connecting the cables to nearby buildings. These cables were strong enough to bind All For One for a period of time. This replicates Izuku Midoriya's quirk.
- Chargebolt- The suit is able to release a charge of electricity from the cables. These electric shocks were potent enough to interfere with All For One's regeneration, preventing him from healing properly. This replicates Denki Kaminari's quirk.
- Cellophane- All Might reels in the cables he previously fired out with Blackwhip, dragging his target closer to himself. This replicates Hanta Sero's quirk.
- Sugarman- All Might attaches a rocket thruster extension to his armor over one leg. He uses it to accelerate his kicks for a heavier impact. Can be used in tandem with Cellphane and Blackwhip to replicate Izuku Midoriya's Full Cowl: Shoot Style Smash technique. This replicates Rikito Sato's quirk.
- Auto-Guard Tsukuyomi- All Might protects himself with a mechanical cape which automatically deploys and rearranges itself to cover his body, similar to how Dark Shadow protects its user. This protected All Might from a combination attack from All For One using Spring-ify, Brawn Boost, Air Cannon, Rivet Stab, Dark Ball, and Impure Beam. However, the cape was still damaged, with All Might sustaining a few injuries in the process. This replicates Fumikage Tokoyami's quirk.
- Superacid Injection: Pinky- Hercules fires a rocket containing a syringe full of acid, which All Might catches out of the air and delivers into his target, dissolving them from the inside. It heavily damaged All For One to the point of turning his skin purple, forcing him to use some of his Quirks to expel it, which accelerated the de-aging effects of the Rewind Drug. This replicates Mina Ashidos quirk.
- Thrusters: Uravity and Ingenium- All Might utilizes thrusters on his back and his legs to enhance his speed and mobility. These replicate Ochako Uraraka's and Tenya Iida's quirks.
- Tailman- All Might generates a mechanical tail to aid his defense, which was used to defend himself against a punch from All For One targeting All Might's chronic injury. This replicates Mashirao Ojiro's quirk.
- Tentacole- All Might utilizes mechanical tentacles to aid his mobility. This replicates Mezo Shoji's quirk.
- Froppy- The tips of All Might's Tentacole ends in suction pads to allow him to cling to surfaces. This replicates Tsuyu Asui's quirk.
- Shoto- All Might uses an arm-mounted cannons to shoot ice. This replicates Shoto Todoroki's quirk,
- Anima - All Might uses bird-like drones which can pick up his motorcycle in order to deploy it as a weapon, and also direct energy sources from power plants to power up other gadgets and weapons. This replicates Koji Koda's quirk.
- Can't Stop Twinkling- All Might fires an enormous laser beam from a device mounted to his motorcycle. He used this to worsen the Rewind Drug's de-aging effects and reduce what was left of All For One's lifespan. This replicates Yuga Aoyama's quirk.
- Soundwave Vibration: Earphone Jack- All Might releases a powerful wave of sonic vibrations from his chest, which was used to disrupt All For One's movements when he tried to escape Can't Stop Twinkling.
- Invisible Girl- A special optic resin coating the armor that allows All Might to be shielded from immense heat, which he used to protect himself from Can't Stop Twinkling's blast. This replicates Toru Hagakure's quirk.
- Morphing Armor: Creati- Parts of the suit are separated from the armor, which can be transformed into other objects. This replicates Momo Yaoyorozu's quirk.
- Binding Rounds: Grape Juice- Balls that are created from Morphing Armor: Creati that All Might uses to attach them to the target, which allowed him to glue All For One's arms to the ground. This replicates Minoru Mineta's quirk.
- Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight- All Might detonates an explosion in his gauntlet. He attempted to use this to take out both himself and All For One as a suicide bomb, but the villain thwarted him by impaling his arm with Spearlike Bones. All Might would later give it to Bakugo for him to use as a splint for his damaged arm over the course of his battle against All For One. This replicates Katsuki Bakugo's quirk.
- He ordered the suit to replicate all of Class 1A's quirks with the use or asistance of technology:
- Armored All Might: During the Final War Arc, as All Might prepares to face All For One once more, this car, alongside the briefcase All Might has been carrying since he obtained Hercules, breaks apart and form themselves around his body as a protective suit of armor. The suit was made by Melisa, and for the suit, he commisioned the following:
Feats & Scaling:
Strength
- Punched a large monster down a city block
- Lifted a sky bridge off of some people, which can weight between 100 to 300 tons during his younger years.
- Caught a cat and a falling girder throws the girder through a giant robot, then lifted said giant robot with one hand and uses it to raise a falling bridge
- Punched the Tokyo Sky Egg into the air. The Sky Egg is a 500-meter tall tower designed to occupy 50,000 people.
- Created a tornado with a punch to suck up hundreds of exploding monsters
- One-shot a large Shisa lion
- Punched hard enough to change the weather, causing it to rain. The amount of force generated to do this is 4 Teratons, Small Country Level.
- Casually tore up buildings with the shockwaves of his punch even while wearing weights to restrain himself.
- Tackled a car, then dissipated a tornado with a punch.
- Clashed with All For One hard enough to create a massive explosion that towers over a city.
- Punched through a large mass of metal pillars.
- Teaming up with Deku, All Might destroyed a giant metal cube using a Double Detroit Smash. This has been calculated to require 1.4 Teratons, Small Country Level.
- Canceled out All For One’s attacks with pure strength, which destroyed his surroundings as a side effect of their fight.
- While in disguise, it leveled a huge chunk of the Ruins area in the USJ
- Overpowered a shock-absorption quirk meant to be his counter,
- His United States of Smash created a massive crater as well as a powerful tornado
- Even though Deku by the end of the series, noted that he is slightly stronger than him, Prime All Might should still be able to scale to the likes of Deku’s best feats, notably:
- Deku, with just the embers of One For All can generate winds so powerful that they scattered a storm of unprecedented size and cleared the skies all across the United States of America for a week of stormy weather. Calculations have this feat at 42.37 Petatons, Multi-Continental Level.
- In the 4th movie, You’re Next, Deku destroys Dark Might’s Fortress with only 45% of One For All (Without Fajin nor Gearshift), calculations have this at 11.78 Petatons, Multi-Continental Level.
- In the second movie, Heroes Rising, both Deku and Bakugo with One For All destroyed Nine’s colossal storm which was significantly bigger than the island they were fighting in, being around 6.8 Petatons, Multi-Continental Level.
- Also All Might scales to the likes of Complete Tomura Shigaraki, since his physical stats has been compared to that All Might in his prime, and Shigaraki can fight on par with Deku, this puts Prime All Might's attack pontency at Multi-Continental for strength.
- During his prime fight against All For One, he was able to destroy his face and "killed" him. This is noteworthy because All For One was able to overpower and kill previous users of One For All, such as Kudo, Bruce, Daigoro Banjo, En and Nana Shimura.
- All Might should easily be faster than the speed of sound, and thus superior to quirk users who specialize in speed, this means he's:
- Superior to Deku, who can time explosions at Mach 15 and dodge automatic fire in the Two Heroes movie.
- Superior to Iida, who can blitz Stain at Mach 8.99 to Mach 39.82
- Superior to Gran Torino, who moved at Mach 3.3 while training with Deku.
- Superior to Edgeshot, who can transform faster than the speed of sound.
- After punching the Tokyo Sky Egg into the air, All Might cleared away a section of forest, escorted all the animals away safely, took a selfie, then caught the Sky Egg and placed it down gently.
- Crossed 5KM in 30 seconds, which included the time taken to fight multiple Nomus. It was stated that this was not his top speed.
- Punched Nomu 300 times in less than a minute.
- During the fight with Young All For One, he was able to dodge a laser from his support item, "Can't Stop Twinkling", which was around 22% FTL. (Even though he was in his Armored Power Suit and had tech asisted quirks that were enhancing his mobility, he should be able to perform this feat if he had One For All)
- Ran from the entrance of the USJ and was able to knock out some villains in a blink of the eye, it's been calculated this to range between 29, 68 or 112 times the speed of sound.
- Should be comparable to Deku (without Gearshift):
- Deku can dodge lasers in the third mission, which is around 33% SoL, Relativistic.
- During his fight against Flect Turn in the third movie, World Heroes' Mission, Deku goes so fast that he atomizes himself and blue shifts his particles, which is around 100% SoL.
- Deku is able to intercept and surpass the speed of Lady Nagant's bullets, which can range from 1.29% FTL to even 25.2% FTL+ (Also Deku compared Faux 100% to All Might moving faster than a speeding bullet, so it should be something he likely can replicate, mainly in his Prime)
- Should be comparable to Complete Shigaraki, whose speed has been compared to in his Prime:
- Shigaraki can dodge and catch Star & Stripes lasers, which is calculated to be at 35% the SoL.
- Shigaraki should upscale Lady Nagant's bullets, who can snipe Shigaraki's hands off from 209.3 km away and reach him in the U.A. Flying Fortress in just a few seconds. Again, since Shigaraki's speed has been compared to Prime All Might, this upscales him to the majority of feats in the series, upscaling from Nagant's bullets puts Shigaraki at Mach 19,526.53 (Sub-Relativistic at 2.2% SoL) and a high-end speed of Mach 375,510.2 (Relativistic at 43% SoL).
- During his Prime, All Might jumped from the Might Tower in Tokyo all the way to Osaka and defeated the villains running all in three seconds, which can be around:
- Low-End = Mach 119.653 (Massively Hypersonic)
- Mid-End = Mach 239.307 (Massively Hypersonic)
- High-End = Mach 1196.538 (Massively Hypersonic+)
- This feat was done after he did 72 hours of non-stop, consecutive hero work without rest, and it's unlikely to actually be Prime All Might's true potential of what he's truly capable of in terms of speed.
Durability
- Got blasted through several buildings by All for One and returns to the battle within seconds.
- Took a hit from Bakugou's large explosion, which was strong enough to tear up the street and be seen over buildings.
- Took hits from the USJ Nomu, who multiple times his strenght was comparable to All Might’s.
- Is comparable to both Complete Shigaraki (After tanking Amajiki's Plasma Cannon, All For One/Shigaraki stated that he's just as durable Golden Age All Might) and Deku (since One For All is a physical stats boosting quirk, Deku’s durability should scale to his attack potency), this should put Prime All Might’s durability at Multi-Continental.
Skill
- Japan’s Number 1 Hero and became the World's Symbol of Peace.
- Was widely regarded as the most powerful hero on earth.
- 8th User of One for All
- Defeated Nomu, a genetically-modified monster
- Defeated Wolfram with Deku’s help
- Defeated numerous other villains over the course of his hero career
- Became the first One For All user to defeat All For One twice.
Weaknesses
- One for All: His use of One For All can be very destructive, so he will not go max out if others will get harmed in the crossfire. When All Might suffers a major blow, his usage of One For All becomes limited and shortens every time he overuses it.
Stats
Weakened All Might:
- Large Island to Small Country Level (AP and Durability), there's arguments for Country Level to Large Country Level AP via scaling him to Incomplete Shigaraki, who has been compared to All Might.
- Massively Hypersonic+ to Subrelativistic (Speed)
Prime All Might:
- Continental to Multi-Continental (AP and Durability), via scaling to the likes of Deku and Complete Shigaraki.
- Relativistic to Faster than Light+ (Speed)
