Powers & Abilities

• Nigh-Omnipotence/Divine Empowerment: As a servant of God, The Spectre is granted limitless power, being capable of nearly any feat within his imagination. The Spectre is said to be the most powerful, being second to only The Presence. As a result of his previous failures, Spectre had been temporarily punished by God. He was stripped away of his omnipotence and was very reduced in his power level, however he was still the most powerful spirit on Earth. The Spectre can also call fourth The Logoz, an inner aspect that is the Spectre's direct channel to God.
  • Nigh-Omniscience: As a divine agent, the Spectre has access to virtually all of the knowledge in the universe and is even aware of events that have been altered by distortions in time.
    • Cosmic Awareness: He could sense when a mystical crisis was imminent.
  • Dimensional Travel: The Spectre can travel to Purgatory at will. He could also travel to Realm of the Recently Deceased, with access to a fresh corpse; The power can also be used to pull people into the Spectre's being, a realm where Spectre is supreme and the laws of the reality are subject to his will.
  • Energy Projection: The Spectre can project a variety of energies. He commonly emits a green mystical energy, however he can create other types of energy, such as electricity.
    • Eldritch Blast: The Spectre can fire powerful beams of pure mystical energy from his hands and eyes. He was capable of using it to harm the likes of Michael Demiurgos, one of the most powerful beings in the universe.
    • Electro-Blast: The Spectre was able to project powerful bolts of lightning from his eyes, down on a group of criminals.
    • Energy Construct Creation: Spectre can create solid energy constructs from his mystical energy. On one occasion, he constructed a mace and shield for combat.
    • Antimatter Blast: The Spectre can fire blasts of antimatter energy
  • Enhanced Senses: The Spectre's supernatural senses allow him to see other spirits. He can also sense acts of evil nearby, and when innocent blood has been shed.
    • Enhanced Sense of Smell: Spectre can trace the scent of blood, which he states calls out to him.

  • Intangibility: The Spectre's natural form is phantasmagorical, even when he is powerless. When bound to a host, the Spectre can become intangible at will.
  • Invisibility: The Spectre can make himself invisible to others at will, while simultaneously remaining visible to those he chooses.
  • Invulnerability: He no-selled Superman's strongest punches. Only high levels of magic and divine weapons can hurt him
  • Metamorphosis: The Spectre can tranform any part of his body at will. On multiple occasions, he transformed both of his hands into working pistols and machine guns, as well as into other weapons such as mallets.
    • Size Alteration: He can grow to massive sizes in order to intimidate his opponents

    • He could inflict death with a glance.
    • He could revive dead men, albeit in a mindless state.
    • He could materialize in multiple locations simultaneously.
  • Molecular Reconstruction: The Spectre can alter the physical structure of matter at will. He was able to transform a group of criminals into rats.
    • Disintegration: He can erase anything from existence
  • Possession: Spectre could inhabit and animate objects, but he would feel pain if these are damaged.
  • Pyrokinesis: The Spectre was able to cause a man's hands to burst into flames. He was also capable of manifesting himself through the flame of a man's lighter.
    • Thermal-Blast: The Spectre can project powerful blasts of flames from his mouth or from his fingertips.
  • Reality Alteration: The Spectre is capable of warping and controlling reality. He can use his ability to control reality to simulate any form of superpower or ability by warping time, space, as well as other dimensions such as Hell. He can attack people in ways that are inexplainable, such as causing a person's inner-emptiness to swallow them up.
  • Superhuman Strength: The Spectre possesses vast superhuman strength, far greater than any human and most superhumans. He was strong enough to use entire planets as weapons in a battle with Azmodus.
  • Telekinesis:
  • Telepathy: The Spectre could usually only sense the intentions of people in the place where they plan to carry those intentions out. However, by entering the mind of his target, he can obtain more information after a mental battle in which the terrain is composed of the person's thoughts and dreams. Entering a person's mind-space allows Spectre to look inside their heart and soul.
    • Mind Control: When unbonded from his host, Spectre's unbound presence on Earth caused people all around the world, including the entire Justice League, to fall under a powerful mind control that caused them to fight each other and unveil their deepest buried grievances. He was also able to forcibly cause two criminals to fight each other to death.
    • Illusion Casting: The Spectre can create elaborate illusions to attack people, which harm them in real life.
    • Fear Projection: Spectre can bring out a person's deepest fears and cause it to attack them.
  • Teleportation: Spectre is capable of teleporting himself and others away at will.
• Law: Before becoming the Spectre and still afterwards, James was and will always be a police officer and a detective.
• Investigation: James was first a run of the mill police officer and then for a long time he was a detective. He preferred not to use his Spectre abilities when on the job for as long as possible but when vengeance called no man could withstand the Spectre.
• Interrogation: Once again, Jim preferred not to use his ability when interrogating suspects but when they prove too steadfast the Spectre appeared.
• Charisma: Jim Corrigan was sometimes known as a rogue cop with his wanton disregard for legal standings and his way of always wooing the female victims of crimes. Often times he ended up on the wrong side of the rules, and had to resort to the Spectre to finish his emotional mishaps.
• Intimidation: Less a skill than an application of his powers, the Spectre excels at being able to intimidate and frighten his adversaries. This is usually done through showy spectacles such as assuming a monstrous appearance, growing in size, projecting a loud, booming voice, etc.
• Occultism: The Spectre is knowledgeable of the occult, the history of various occult-related rituals and demonology.
• Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced): Spectre was capable of defeating 4 Knights at once using pure skill and a staff, while depowered. He even overcame Death Tarot in a sword fight.
• Aerial Combat: Spectre has shown he's skilled in piloting a plane and controlling it in combat.

Weaknesses

• Vulnerability to High Order Magic: The Spectre can be injured or even slain by sufficient magic force, most notably the Spear of Destiny.
• Loss of Host: Also, if the human host dies, the current Spectre will be no more and the human spirit and the Divine Wrath will separate, each going to his respective destination in the realms beyond life.
• Vulnerability to Spear of Destiny: The Spectre can be injured or even slain by sufficient magic force, but he will suffer additional damage from the Spear of Destiny  and beings summoned by it.
• Divine Limitations: The Presence can impose limits on what the Spectre is able to do, as it did in binding the Spectre to a mortal host.
• Divine Law: There are certain boundaries even the Spectre must not cross. If it does, it faces the punishment of the Presence. When the Spectre killed Nabu, it drew the Presence's attention, and was recalled.
• Psychologically-Induced Limitations: The Spectre is one of the most powerful magical forces in existence,  but his power is dependent on his host for guidance. In the case of when the Spectre created a human form for Jim Corrigan, Corrigan wanted to rejoin humanity and unconsciously divided his power. This led to a situation in that if the two where not rejoined within 48 hours, Corrigan's spirit would have perished and the Spectre would have been left without a host.
