Napstablook is a character and mini-boss in the role-playing game Undertale.
Background[]
Napstablook is first seen in the Ruins, pretending to be asleep by repeatedly saying "Z" out loud. If the player hopes to move them, they must either spare or fight them. If spared, Napstablook will thank them. If fought, Napstablook reveals that they were only lowering their HP to be polite.
Napstablook is later seen again when the player is fighting Mad Dummy, where they accidentally cry on Mad Dummy, scaring them off. Afterwards, Napstablook apologizes and invites the player over to their house. At their house, Napstablook offers the player a ghost sandwich, and then invites them to lay on the floor and feel like garbage with them. Napstablook is also seen running the snail races at Blook Acres.
When fighting Mettaton Ex, Napstablook is the first monster to call in expressing gratitude and love for Mettaton. Napstablook can actually sing.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Magic Tears: Napstablook has magical tears that are capable of dealing damage to both normal creatures and ghosts, as revealed in the Mad Dummy fight.
- Tear Manipulation: Napstablook is able to move and shape their tears, at one point making them into a hat.
- Acidic Properties: It is likely their tears have acidic properties, as Mad Dummy assumes they are acid rain.

- Low Self-Confidence: Napstablook has little to no self-confidence, causing them to rarely want to do anything, including fight, as shown when one of their attacks was simply the words "Sorry, not feeling up to it right now." and they couldn't even damage the player.
