Mortal Kombat is a popular fighting series created by Midway (which went bankrupt back in 2009 and is now handled by NetherRealm Studios). The series is especially known for it's complete bloody and brutal finishing moves.
Series Dictionary[]
- Mortal Kombat Tournament: A tournament created by the Elder Gods to keep order between the many realms in the MK Universe. It takes place every generation, and the winner recieves Immortality until the next tournament takes place.
- Elder Gods: Omnipotent celestial beings that watch over all realms.
- Chaosrealm: A world where chaos and anarchy are practiced religiously.
- Earthrealm: What we know as Planet Earth. This is where most of the story in the MK games takes place.
- Edenia: A beautiful kingdom ruled by Sindel.
- Netherrealm: A hellish realm in which sinful souls reside after the end of their terrenal lives.
- Orderrealm: A realm in which peace and order are upheld without question.
- Outworld: An empire that has been present for millions of years. It was ruled by Onaga, until Shao Kahn took over.
- In-Game:
- X-Ray Moves: Brutal special moves that aim to damage the foe's internal structure without killing them instantly.
- Fatal Blows: Similar to X-Rays, but without internal view of the foe's body structure.
- Fatality: Brutal finishers that take advantage of the combatant's physicality and arsenal.
- Brutality: Brutal combos that end with with the foe's bloody death.
- Animality: Finishers in which the combatant transforms into an animal and uses the animal's abilities to murder the foe.
- Babality: Regress the opponent into a baby version of themself.
- Friendship: Why can't we be friends?
