Maui is a main character in the 2016 animated Disney movie Maui.
Background[]
Maui was born to human parents, who threw him in the sea and left him for dead. He was saved and raised by the gods, who gave him magical powers and turned him into a demigod. Because of his abandonment, he lived a life of insecurity, doing everything he could to get the love and appreciation of humans.
Centuries later, Maui stole the Heart of Tefiti, the mother island. Because of it's power to create life, Maui thought this would be the perfect way to become a hero forever. But this didn't go as plan, as once it was removed a darkness began to spread across the earth. Afterwards, he was banished to a deserted island.
Through Moana, Maui eventually learned the error of his ways and became a better person, helping her restore peace to the world.

- Insecurity: Although a bit full of himself, Maui is insecure because of his abandonment and constantly wants the humans' love.
