Alexander Joseph Luthor is a supervillain appearing in comics published by DC Comics.
Background[]
Lex Luthor was born and raised in the poverty stricken area of Metropolis called the Suicide Slum, raised by abusive parents, with the desire to better himself. As a teenager, one night, he dismantled the breaks in his parent's car, causing them to die in a car crash. Lex then used his parent's life insurance to get himself out of the Suicide Slum and start his own business, known as LexCorp, which practically ran all of Metropolis. Though everything changed once the Man of Steel arrived. Lex saw Superman as a threat to humanity, fearing that humanity would grow too reliant on this alien savior and stop thinking for themselves. Despite being only human, Lex dedicated his life to removing Superman from the equation, even going as far as to form his own organization of supervillains known as the Legion of Doom.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Genius Level Intellect: Luthor's intelligence is nearly unrivaled, making him one of the smartest minds on Earth. His many plans and plots to attack, maim, and generally bring ill will towards Superman were all subjects to a major plan to find a way to end the idea of Superman as well as the Kryptonian himself. Luthor has solved complicated equations in a few minutes and holds a myriad of masters and degrees. He's found cures for diseases in deep thought and found ways to better mankind while still profiting from its destruction.
- Business Management: Lex Luthor is one of the most shrewd businessmen in the world, a trait that has earned him an immense fortune second only to entrepreneurs like Bruce Wayne and Steve Dayton. Unlike Wayne however, Luthor is not above using cutthroat tactics, unethical practices and illegal operations to maintain the success of his business empire. At the height of Lexcorp's power, Lex Luthor virtually owned every business enterprise in the city of Metropolis.
- Political Science: Lex Luthor's corporate skills applied just as sharply in the political arena as they did in the boardroom. As President of the United States, he groomed the best candidates to serve as his cabinet members and knew the intricacies of bureaucratic politicking as well as any other former Chief Executive.
- Leadership: Although Luthor's tenure as president ended in scandal, he successfully guided the nation during the massive alien invasion. He's led a large amount of supervillain teams and done so quite effectively.
- Science: Lex has solved complicated chemical equations in seconds. He understands the variety of powers associated with the human metagene and manipulated it for his own purposes. He claims he found a cure for cancer as well as AIDS but holds them in his personal notes to better bank on it's research.
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Lex Luthor is also trained in hand-to-hand combat, though his personal Amazon fighting instructors consider him a sub-par combatant with poor form. He has single-handedly fought with Nightwing and Batman, although he was only capable of winning one of these fights due to such advantages as Nightwing being drugged and him still wearing parts of his old armor when he fought Batman.
- Multilingualism: Lex can speak Mandarin and Korean fluently.
Equipment[]
Lex's Warsuit[]
LexCorp Battlesuit (sometimes dubbed "Sentinel-One") is Lex's prefered option when it comes to dealing with extraordinary situations. The Warsuit has gone through numerous changes over the years. From a suit made from an alien race that cherised Luthor, to a modified Apokolips battle armor, to a reversed engineered Kryptoian tech, Lex's Warsuit has gone beyond it's main design of combating Superman.
- Superhuman Strength: While its strength level could never be a match for Superman at his peak level, it can be when he is weakened by taking hits from its kryptonite weapons. It can easily overpower Batman and Deathstroke.
- Superhuman Durability: The alien armor is able to survive direct blows from Superman, however it can still be destroyed by the Man of Steel eventually.
- Flight via Jet Boosters: The Warsuit has built-in rocket thrusters in the boots for flight.
- Forcefield Projector: Passively generated all across the armor, including the seemingly unprotected head from the torso. The armor also has an energy shield installed in the left gauntlet. Combined with the armor itself, it creates enough defensive protection to survive Superman's godly strength.
- Internal Forcefield: Some Warsuit models also have an internalized barrier to protect the wearer from within, and removing pieces of the suits outer frame, the forcefield can be reshaped into a spatial cutting blade capable of rending even a Kryptonians dense flesh.
- Electric Blasts: Electrical surge generated across the armor (New Earth only).
- Kryptonite Weapons: Lex sometimes carries around a large spear or axe with the blade of the weapons made out of kryptonite (New Earth only).
- Energy Projection: Fueled by Kryptonite.
- Energy Blade: Housed in the right gauntlet, made out of kryptonite fueled plasma.
- Kryptonite Energy Spikes: Under armor of the right arm.
- Gauntlet Weaponry:
- Energy Blasters
- 50 cal. Machine guns
- Missiles Launchers
- Flamethrowers
- Retractable Arm Blade
- Front-mounted Chest Laser:
- Defibrillators

- LexCorp Satellite Linkup: Like the previous chassis, Lex's new armor possesses a wireless connection to his own satellites for computation, analysis and operational purposes. Unlike the prior model however, this new armor has access to hidden satellites in Jupiter's asteroid belt in order to access high profiles agencies and governments computers (Prime Earth only).
- Motherbox: Lex has utilized many different energy sources for his suits, but his newest and greatest is the Mother Box, a nigh-inexhaustible piece of New God technology, with which Lex's suit gains many more abilities (Prime Earth only).
- Danger Sense
- Life Sense
- Omniscience: A Mother Box can sense everything that's going on around it.
- Omni-knowledge: A Mother Box has access to all the knowledge of the New Gods.
- Knowledge Projection: A Mother Box is capable of sharing and projecting its understanding of past, present and alternating future events for all to see.
- Energy Transference: A Mother Box can transfer its energy to its user. In addition, through his or her affection for Mother Box, the user can transfer energy back to it. Only one such attempt is allowed per day.
- Source Conduit: Mother Boxes have been seen to access the energy of the Source for various effects such as:
- Gravity Manipulation: Change the gravitational constant of an area,
- Emotion Control: Control the mental state of a host
- Telepathy: Communicate telepathically with a host or other life form,
- Health Manipulation: Manipulate the life-force of a host to sustain it past fatal injuries,
- Boom-Tubes: ability to open or close boom-tubes. Any character that possesses both a Mother Box and a sample of X-Element can automatically create a Boom Tube capable of transporting individuals or group between intra-/inter-galactically, or inter-dimensionally.
- Machine Animation/Control: Take over and control non-sentient machines, including the ability to evolve non-sentient machines.
- Gestalt: Merge sentient beings into a single more powerful being,
- Life Support: Sustain a life form in a hostile environment such as space, and many others.
- Matter/Energy Manipulation: Through its connection to The Source of all things, a Mother Box has limitless capacity to alternate and rearrange all manner of material across existence for any desired purpose.

Apex Lex would set out to offer gifts of power to many of the villains of the DC Universe (Prime Earth only).
- Martian Physiology: The average Martian possesses the potential for the following power set:
- Shape-Shifting: Martians have psionic control of their physical for down to the molecular level. This allows them to a form of shape-shifting that allows them to mimic other forms, elongate aspects of their body, increase or decrease their physical size, and so on.
- Size Alteration: As an extension of their shape-shifting abilities martians can alter their size with ease, being able to shrink or grow to gigantic size.
- Invisibility: Martians can cause the biopolymers in their bodies to lose their ability to reflect light, making the Martians invisible to normal light and human sight.
- Phasing: Martians can go through solid matter.
- Superhuman Strength: Martians possess vast levels of superhuman strength and are among the few races that are able to match Kryptonians in terms of raw strength. Martians can easily shatter reinforced concrete and steel, lift and carry houndreds of tons with ease and deliver incredible damage with their blows.
- Superhuman Stamina
- Superhuman Durability: Martians possess high levels of durability that make them nigh-invulnerable to all forms of damage. Martians can withstand high caliber bullets, powerful energy blast and kinetic impacts without suffering damage.
- Superhuman Speed: Martians can process thoughts, move, and react at incredible speed, being able to cover vast distances in little or no time, catch bullets in mid flight, run on water and create afterimages as they run.
- Superhuman Agility
- Superhuman Reflexes
- Regeneration: Martians have powerful regenerative powers that enable them to regenerate their entire body from a severed limb, they can furtherly enhance their regenerative powers by drawing mass from nearby sources.
- Flight
- Extrasensory Input

- Martian Vision: Martian visual acuity greatly exceed human norms and allows for a wider range of information to be observed. This includes the following:
- Infared Vision
- X-Ray Vision
- Electro-Magnetic Spectrum Vision
- Telescopic Vision
- Microscopic Vision
- Telepathy: Martians have the ability to read the minds of others and project their thoughts to varying degrees. They can also project their mental essences into a gestalt community known as the "Great Mind". Through this, the community can enhance the telepathic strength of other Martians. This power can also enable them to reverse the effects of amnesia or psychological brainwashing.
- Illusions
- Possession
- Astral Projection
- Mind Control: As an extension of this, Martians can also use the ability to alter a psychological profile of a target, enabling them to manipulate, and in some cases, outright control that individual. This practice is greatly discouraged however, and only rarely used.
- Telepathic Relay
- Telepathic Assault
- Telekinesis: Martians have mind-over-matter abilities and can lift and move objects with their minds. They can also employ their telekinesis in offensive way by discharging telekinetic blasts capable of great concussive power.
- Shape-Shifting: Martians have psionic control of their physical for down to the molecular level. This allows them to a form of shape-shifting that allows them to mimic other forms, elongate aspects of their body, increase or decrease their physical size, and so on.
- Dimensional Travel: Apex Lex was capable to travel across infinite realities.
- Invulnerability: Apex Lex's body could withstand the full force of Superman's punch without receiving any significant injury.
- The Hidden Forces: Apex Lex was granted by Perpetua the ability to wield each of the energies of creation and wield them. This include:
- Black Apple: The dark counterpart to the Collective Unconscious, which is the force that grants telepaths their power. It is a dark force of forbidden knowledge unlocked by discovering the universe's darkest secrets.
- Sixth Note: The dark counterpart to the Dimensional Superstructure of the Multiverse which governs all things imaginable and unimaginable, a power known to be beyond imagination.
- Still Force: The dark counterpart to the Speed Force, it allows its user to harness entropy, drain motion, age others, drain life-force energy from others and create barriers and constructs of energy.
- Tear of Extinction: The dark counterpart to the Life Force, the Tear is a cosmic force that brings death to any being, even immortal gods and sends them to the Graveyard of the Gods. The Tear of Extinction negates healing and is described as the drive towards isolation and solipsism.
- Ultraviolet Spectrum: The dark counterpart to the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum that functions similarly but feeds on primal emotions like hatred. Like the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum has Emotional Entities, it too has its own entity in Umbrax. It is the dark-light to the light of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum.
- Void Wind: The dark counterpart to the Sphere of the Gods which can snuff out magic and gods. It is the Tear's twin and its name is derived from the harsh winds that blow from the Graveyard of the Gods. In addition to snuffing out magic and the lives of the gods, it has shown the ability to subjugate them as well, as seen with Cheetah controlling the god Poseidon.
- Faithlessness: The seventh force and dark counterpart to Faith. It appears to be associated with the concept of "Doom" as it relies on the evil within people's hearts and their selfish and cruel natures and is unlocked when one loses the faith one possesses in their loved ones.
Zone Child Fusion[]
In his search for the ultimate power surpassing that of a Power Ring, Lex Luthor traverse the farthest depths of space beyond his planetary system. What he found was the seismological entity of virtually unlimited power known as the Zone Child, in an effort to prevent it from annihilating the universe to be rid of all the negative emotion which hurt the cosmic consciousness. Luthor transformed himself into pure thought energy and merged his sentient mind with that of the creature, becoming a godlike superbeing in and of himself (New Earth only).
- 'Nigh Omnipotence': With the power of the Zone Child fueling him, Lex was capable of accomplishing nearly anything. Being bending Space-Time, controling gravity, open portals to and from different points in the universe, etc. But to put a limit on his ability, the zone creature made it so Luthor could only use its power for beneficent purposes. Never destructive or selfish ones.
- 'Nigh Omniscience': Lex Luthor, while in full host of the Zone Child became instantly aware of himself and his surroundings. Luthor once boasted that his presence reached to the farthest ends of the cosmos and back. As he was at one with anything and everything within the cosmos. His ego or some other flaw of his ultimate power prevented him from having full and true knowledge of all he survayed, as he had to look into Kal-El's past to see that Superman was Clark Kent.
