Simon the Digger, pilot of Lagann, is the main protagonist from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Background[]
Simon was a young digger from the underground village of Jeeha, where he spent his days digging in search for treasure. But it all changed when he found a strange machine with a face, as well as a tiny drill. He showed them both to his "bro", Kamina. Suddenly, another faced machine fell from the skies, endangering the village. Simon used the tiny drill to start up his own machine, which turned out to be a Gunman, a mech that run on Spiral Energy. Kamina called it Lagann, and after defeating the enemy Gunman, Simon and Kamina used Lagann to escape from the village, only to find out there are more Gunmen on the surface. Simon and Kamina decide to set out to defeat the evil Spiral King Lordgenome in order to let humanity live on the surface peacefully.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Superhuman Strength, Speed, and Durability: Due to his constantly growing Spiral Power, Simon's strength, speed, and durability have grown to be much better than an average human.
- Flight: Lagann can maintain flight for some time thanks to Simon's Spiral Power.
- Extremely Durable Cockpit: Simon can protect himself by activating Lagann's cockpit, which can withstand all kinds of damage.
- Drill Manipulation: Lagann can form drills from any part of its body. These drills are sharp enough to easy pierce through metal, and can be used as shields to block attacks.
- Lagann Impact: Lagann's signature attack. By ramming the opponent with a large drill, Simon can use his Spiral Power to take it over, controlling it.
- Springs: Their are shock coils and springs stored inside Lagann's legs, which are use to leap large distances or absorb the shock of a long fall.
- Spiral Power: An energy source humans and other animals use to evolve, which also happens to be Lagann's main power source. Simon is capable of producing a nigh-unlimited amount of Spiral Power, and his power output increases with his fighting spirit and determination. Spiral Power grants Simon a wide variety of different abilities.
- Energy Manipulation: Using Spiral Power, Simon can release blasts of energy, usually from his Core Drill. He can also absorb energy, such as when he absorbed the Infinite Multiversal Labyrinth, or the energy of a Big Bang-level blast.
- Drill Summoning: Simon can use Spiral Power to create drills on any Gunmen he pilots. He can also manipulate his blood to form a drill over his hand.
- Reality Warping: Spiral Power allows Simon to warp reality around him. He can manipulate probability so his attacks hit opponents in every conceivable way possible, tear open holes in time and space, revive the dead, and even create universes where anything his allies imagine comes true.
- Perceptual Teleportation: By focusing on a certain object or person, Simon can tear holes in space and warp instantly to their location.
Equipment[]
- Core Drill: A tiny drill that Simon wears as an amulet. It works as Lagann's ignition key, but it can also be used as a stabbing weapon. Simon can also use the Core Drill to fire blasts of Spiral Power as projectiles.
- Drill: Simon's old digging drill that he used in Jiha Village. He can use it to dig tunnels in an emergency, or as a makeshift weapon if he can't use Lagann.
- Drill Staff: A staff tipped with a large drill that Simon carried during his time as a wanderer. So far, it hasn't been used as a weapon, though it most likely could.
