King Andrias Leviathan is the main antagonist of the Disney Channel series Amphibia.
Background[]
A thousand years ago, Newtopia was a prosperous and advanced city due to having amazing technology and machinery, sustained and powered by the Calamity Box. The city's ruler, King Aldrich Leviathan, was a cruel tyrant who constantly pressured his son, Prince Andrias, with royal and conquest duties, telling him to forget his friendship with the frog Leif and and the toad Barrel, and even seeded doubt in Andrias's mind about his friends possibly betraying him. When Leif inadvertently touched the gems on the Calamity Box while playing keep away with Andrias and Barrel, she received a disturbing vision of Amphibia being doomed from its misuse of the box. When her warnings of what was to come were dismissed by Aldrich, she took matters into her own hands and stole the box herself, fleeing from Newtopia and never returning. Angry over Leif's "betrayal", Andrias sent Barrel to the outskirts for failing to stop Leif and disavowed his friendship with both of them, planning to keep the frogs under heel going forward for Leif's actions.
With the Calamity Box gone, all of Newtopia's technology became unusable without its power source. The city fell from grace, all of Amphibia backslid into its current medieval state, and over a thousand years later the inhabitants forgot it ever existed at all, with Andrias growing up to be a bitter king. In the present, when three teenage human girls from Earth - Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu - were transported to Amphibia by the Calamity Box, Andrias secretly hatched a scheme to manipulate them into bringing the Calamity Box to him under the guise of a jovial and kindly ruler. He studied the box with Marcy for the majority of Anne and the Plantars' stay in Newtopia. When they left Newtopia to go retrieve the Calamity Box, he enigmatically approached Marcy with a proposition. It was later revealed that Anne, Marcy and the Plantars' mission involved undoing a prophecy so that Andrias and his mysterious master, a giant multi-eyed monster, could enact an unspecified revenge. He briefed his master of the progress after cutting off Yunan informing him about the civil unrests, the meeting of the toad lords and Captain Grime still being at large. When he finally had the Calamity Box in his grasp, Andrias revealed his true colors to Anne and her friends; he wanted the Calamity Box back not for knowledge, but for conquering other worlds. He battled Anne and her friends before witnessing her using the blue gem powers to fight back. As Anne and the Plantars escaped through a portal back to Los Angeles, Andrias stabbed Marcy through the torso.
Andrias kept Marcy alive in a suspension tank and plotted to kill Anne, the only one capable of derailing his plans. He started by sending one of his Frog-Bots called Cloak-Bot to do the job and obtain the latest copy of a novel series that Marcy got him hooked on. Displeased that Cloak-Bot hadn't killed Anne yet and that it only got Book 3 of the novel series when Book 2 was sold out, Andrias activated the Cloak-Bot's timer giving him the rest of the day to kill Anne before it's self-destruct sequence was initiated. When Yunan and Lady Olivia tried to rescue Marcy, Andrias stopped them and revealed his master: The Core, a monstrous, mechanical multi-eyed entity composed of the perserved collective memories of Amphibia's greatest minds, including Andrias' father Aldrich. Under its command, Andrias used Marcy as a vessel to contain the Core within her, despite his pleas for his master to consider an alternative host. When Christmas Eve arrived on Earth, Andrias sent a remote control drone to Earth to find and kill Anne. Andrias finally found Anne in a parade and took over a Santa Claus float, but Anne and the Plantars managed to defeat it using quick thinking and an explosive Christmas tree. Darcy, the Core's possessed form of Marcy, mocked Andrias for his failure, but he was confident that his new army would be insuperable when it invaded Earth.
When the time had come for Andrias and his master to carry out their invasion, the Amphibian rebellion took the fight to his forces, leading him to join the fray himself while Anne, Sasha, Grime, and the Plantars sneaked inside his castle to get the music box back. The heroes, however, were captured by Darcy, forcing the resistance to back down as she and Andrias proceeded to open a portal back to Los Angeles and commence their invasion. Andrias battled Anne in a mechanized suit of armor, the Dyoplosaurus, and seemingly had the upper hand, but stopped when Sprig showed him a letter written by Leif to tell him that she never forgot her friendship with him. Losing the will to fight, Andrias allowed Anne to strike him down, horrifically damaging his body which was revealed to be party biomechanical. He was brought back to Amphibia, where the Core had taken control of the moon and sent it rocketing towards the planet. Andrias sent his Frog-Bots to aid Anne, Sasha and Marcy in stopping the Core and ultimately overcame his father's influence by crushing his crown. After the Core was destroyed, Andrias bid Marcy farewell, repentant for his actions.
Years later, Andrias took up a life of gardening to atone for his evil actions against Amphibia and Earth, now a redeemed newt free from the abuse of his father and master.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Tactical Intelligence: King Andrias is a patient and brilliant strategist as well as an expert on subterfuge and psychological warfare.
- Advanced Scientific Knowledge: Andrias knows much about the technology forgotten by the rest of Amphibia as he is able to properly use the various ancient machines.
- Combat Capabilities: Befitting his size, Andrias has tremendous physical strength and is a highly capable warrior that has a lot of battle experience. His skill in combat in put on full display when he personally engages an entire resistance by himself in "The Beginning of the End", hardly looking worse for wear when his enemies were forced to back down when Darcy captured Anne, Sasha and the Plantars. He is no less formidable in battle in his Dyoplosaurus armor, holding his own against a Calamity-powered Anne and faring much better than the first time Anne's power had awakened.
- Superhuman Durability: Thanks to his cybernetic enhancements, Andrias is tough enough to tank hits from anything short of Barrel's Warhammer, a weapon powerful enough to cause mini-quakes when hit on the ground and crush robots in a single swing. Andrias did get hurt when attacked with it, but not meaningfully incapacitated. When Anne unlocked her Calamity powers and went berserk on him and his robots, she vaporised the metal minions with the aftershocks of her attacks, yet Andrias was still able to move after she blasted through his defenses with a direct punch and knocked him down, though he was obviously winded and hurt in the aftermath.
- Manipulation: Andrias is manipulative, offering Marcy a proposition in return for her helping him, and manipulated Anne and the Plantars by pretending to be eager to send Anne back home.
Equipment[]
- Laser Sword: His primary weapon in combat. When King Andrias strikes the ground with it, he can create a massive shockwave.
- Energy Shield: Seems quite durable but cannot withstand an attack from a gem powered Anne for very long.
- Frog-Bot Army: Robotic Soldiers that obey his every command.
- Dyoplosaurus: An huge, ancient high-tech power armor used by Andrias to battle Anne during his invasion of Earth.
- Enhanced Strength: The Dyoplosaurus has enormous strength, capable of fighting on equal grounds with a Calamity-powered Anne.
- Flight: Thanks to the thrusters in its legs, the Dyoplosaurus can fly at a high enough speeds to keep up with a Calamity-powered Anne all though Los Angeles.
- Missiles: From its shoulders, the Dyoplosaurus can shoot multilabel missiles to overwhelm enemies with explosive force.
- Plasma Olms: From the red spots on its tail, the Dyoplosaurus can shoot plasma blasts in the shape of olms.
- Flamethrower: The left arm of the Dyoplosaurus has a built-in flamethrower.

Weaknesses[]
- For years, had a bitter opinion on friendship due in part to how his own friendship with Leif and Barrel ended.
- All his attempted murder of Sprig accomplished was Anne awakening her powers because he did not realize the gem wasn't completely charged.
- Got the crap beaten out of him moments after.
- Wasn't able to prevent Anne from escaping as she and the Plantars ended up in Earth in the middle of a traffic jam.
- Seems to be short-sighted as he never seems to scout dimensions he is going to conquer, which can potentially bring his downfall, judging by the fact that he is unaware Earth's military is far more advanced than his army.
- Could be too impatient in terms of getting results he wanted.
- He "motivated" his Cloak-Bot to kill Anne and the Plantars at any cost back on Earth by activating the self-destruct sequence in the Cloak-Bot. This eventually caused the Cloak-Bot to recklessly attack Anne and the Plantars wide open, which caused the US government to become aware of the existence of the Plantars and the Cloak-Bot, thus destroying his original intention of a discreet assassination.
- Didn't fully understand how the Calamity Gems worked himself.
- Lost his will to fight after reading Leif's letter.
- Had a shitty father who was the reason he turned out the way he did.
Fun Facts[]
- King Andrias' first and last names may reference a few things:
- Andrias is a genus of giant salamanders (the largest living amphibians in the world), which might also reference King Andrias' large size.
- Leviathan is a mythical creature from Hebrew mythology, often depicted as a large serpent.
- King Andrias has many things in common with all three human girls.
- He can be seen as an evil counterpart of Anne; they share blue as a color motif and they both have casual fun loving charismatic personas.
- He is a dark reflection of what Sasha could've been had she not reformed and made amends with Anne, because he also had close friends who he felt turned their back on them most likely due to his misdeeds.
- Like Marcy, he is very intelligent, enjoys puzzles and was hiding more information about the Calamity Box than he let on.
- In "The Core & The King", his young self is voiced by Zeno Robinson, who also voices Hunter in another Disney animated series, The Owl House.
