Waylon Jones, also known as Killer Croc, is a recurring villain in DC Comics. He most often serves as a dangerous enemy to Batman, though as of late, has turned over a new leaf and stays away from the Dark Knight.
Background[]
Born in a Florida slum, Waylon Jones was an unlucky case. His mother died in childbirth, his father abandoned him, he was raised by an uncaring aunt who was a drinker, and to top it all off, he was born with a genetic mutation giving him a reptile's skin, sharp claws, and teeth; due to genetic atavism. His appearance subjected him to ridicule by those who knew him, making for a difficult childhood. Once he set his eyes on making a name in Gotham City, Waylon quickly rose to the top, catching the eyes of both fellows criminals and the local vigilante, Batman.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Regressive Atavism: Atavism results in traits ancestral to the human species being expressed again. This is why Jones possesses scales, sharpened talons and teeth, large size, and enhanced physical abilities. It's why Waylon Jones is known as the Killer Croc.
- Superhuman Strength: Killer Croc has an enhanced level of physical strength. He has traded blows with a Venom-enhanced Bane, slammed his way through an armed group of Gotham's SWAT, and carved his way through Gotham's underbelly to create a home within the sewers.According to Batman, Waylon can lift a school bus. When fighting against Aquaman who was holding back, Croc's strong enough to bite into a Aquaman's skin (Mostly). He was even strong enough to bite into General Zod's arm when Zod wasn't paying attention.
- Superhuman Speed: Killer Croc has an incredible amount of speed for such a large creature. He moves so fast in the sewers that he can come up on prey unnoticed.
- Superhuman Durability: Bullets fling off Killer Croc's skin and an alligator breaks it's fangs on his scales. He can also survive being thrown from the top of a skyscraper. He can also survive in the depths of the ocean, where the pressure applies 106 pounds per square inch on the body.
- Enhanced Sense of Smell: Croc has had an enhanced sense of smell since he was young.
- Regeneration: Croc has superhuman regenerative powers, able to heal even lost limbs. He once cut off his own hands to escape Arkham and then healed from them later. And after Bane broke his arms, he healed them in a matter of weeks.
- Leadership: Killer Croc knows what it's like to be downtrodden and hurt. He used this knowledge and his home in the sewers to house and control homeless youth and the like. He now runs his own personal kingdom.
- Bilingualism: Killer Croc enjoys French literature, and appears to be fluent in the language.
- Wrestling: Killer Croc's primary fighting style is wrestling. He learned to wrestle in his early adulthood while trying to make enough money to survive in a circus. He combines wrestling with savagery and strategy in order to wear down opponents.
- Hand-to-Hand Combat Skills: He regularly fights Batman and is getting to his level of combat, and once had a full-fledged fight with Aquaman, one of which he won. He's also more than a match for Bane, and has even defeated him. Wonder Woman and Cheetah have also learned a few things from him in sparring combat.
- Swimming: Due to having the natural instincts and behaviors of a crocodile, Croc is a naturally exceptional swimmer, and can breathe underwater. He's exceptionally stealthy in the water, and can swim up to the surface fast enough to jump out of it, all while dodging and avoiding robots with octopi arms and mutated animals. He even beat up King Shark while underwater, sneaking in from behind even though Nananue was presumably in that tank for a while.

Hydra Croc[]
Killer Croc was offered a deal by a woman named Maro to get more power then he could ever imagine. They did a ritual, Croc ate a lot of animals, mutated some more, and eventually became this. In this form, he is more than strong enough to casually shatter and tear through buildings.
- Divine Empowerment: While in the employ of Maro, Killer Crock would begin undergoing a transmogrification that would tap into his latent ancestry of historically infamous lizardmen. Initially causing him to change into a multi-eyed and massive alligator humanoid, Waylon would be further mutated into a more monstrous semblance equivocal to the mythical Hydra by his new employer. Giving him enough raw menace to knock over buildings in his rampage.

Source Wall Croc[]
After being amped by the Source Wall, Croc became powerful enough to take on the entire Justice League, even incapacitating Superman with Kryptonite vision.

He is usually hired by other villains as muscle or as a hitman, as he is at least intelligent enough to follow instructions.
