Background[]
The Ice Climbers named Popo (blue) & Nana (pink) are two children that climbs ice mountains to take back their stolen vegetables by the giant condor. When the two climbers reach the top of mountains, a bonus game will appear. They have to collect the vegetables of the same type & jump onto the condor. You will have 39 seconds to complete it; if you collect all the vegetables & jump onto the condor, you win the level; Popo and Nana or just Popo will happily jump repeatedly with a white flag. Marked the level with either Popo or Nana (If Nana wins in two player mode, she will mark the level). If you lose, they will cry in the arms & wiping their tears and marked the level with a Topi (a yeti in American/European version or seal in the Japanese version). Popo & sometimes Nana is either a guest(s) or cameo(s) in other video games like “WarioWare”, “Kirby”, “Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U, a costume in “Super Mario Maker”, etc. Their relationship is unknown, based on the fact they may be siblings, best friends, or lovers.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Cryokinesis: They can control or manipulate ice from their hands or their hammers.
- Climbing skills
- Belay: Belay is their up special move in the Smash series, when the leading Ice Climber throws the trailing Ice Climber in the air, then passes a white rope towards the leading Ice Climber and pulls them up to recover. If the leader is by their self, the move is not as effective.
- Squall Hammer: Squall Hammer is their side special move, where they connect their bodies and spin their mallets simultaneously & horizontally. If you press the side special button repeatedly and tilt the control stick, the move can go vertically to gain height and recover. If the leader is solo, then, the recovery is not as effective.
- Ice Shot: Ice Shot is their neutral special move, where the Ice Climbers shoot ice blocks from their mallets. This move gives weak knockback to opponents. The origin of this move is whenever Topis find open gaps on the mountain floors, they use ice blocks to close the open gaps.
- Blizzard: Blizzard is their down special move; the Ice Climbers shoots freezing ice from their hands & when the opponents are on high damage, they turned into a block of ice.
- Wobbling: Wobbling is a technique, where the leading Ice Climber grabs & pummels the opponent, while the trailing Ice Climber repeatedly attacks the opponent at the same time without grabbing. The opponent can’t be released, unless you stop attacking, throwing the opponent, or getting attacked by another opponent or an item. This move is extremely useful.
Equipment[]
- Mallets: They use their mallets to attack or to climb ice mountains.
- Rope: The rope helps them to pulls themselves up, if the other one has trouble climbing and very useful for their special attack, Belay.
- Mountaineering Boots: Their boots are very helpful, climbing on tough icicle mountains, so, they will a low percentage of falling. Their cleats stick onto the mountains as easy as possible.
- Jackets: Their jackets is what keeps them warm, during their icy adventures.
