Son Goku is the protagonist of the famous anime/manga series, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super.

Background

Goku was born on Planet Vegeta, named Kakarot. He was the son of the Saiyan Bardock, and was sent to Earth due to Frieza destroying Planet Vegetarian. His mission was to destroy it, but he was dropped on his head and forgot it, when being adopted by Grandpa Gohan, not to be confused with Goku's son, Gohan.

When he became an adult, and married his wife Chi Chi, and had previously mentioned Gohan, the Saiyan Raditz who was Goku's brother came to Earth. Together, Goku and Piccolo defeated Raditz, but Goku was killed by the attack.

Many years later after the Saiyan Saga, on Namek during a battle with Frieza, Goku became the first Super Saiyan.

Note: This takes Goku from the entire Dragon Ball franchise, Dragon Ball, Z, GT, Super, even Heroes (While technically a different continuity, CC Goku is functionally a stand-in for the mainline Goku, his history and powers are the same, making his story just as much of a ¨what if...¨ scenario as the multiple Super continuities, the only real difference is Akira Toriyama is not involved) and Xenoverse (Xeno Goku's history is very similar to his main timeline counterpart's with him being known to have experienced versions of the Frieza and Cell Sagas, but unlike his main counterpart, he encountered the movies Tree of Might, Lord Slug, and Fusion Reborn as well as the events of Dragon Ball GT - having battled the Shadow Dragons in the past. At some point he encountered Broly. As such, Xeno Goku did not experience the events of Dragon Ball Super, and so was unaware of many of his main timeline counterpart's forms, especially Super Saiyan Blue, until they both met).

Powers & Abilities

• Fighting Techniques:
  • Genius of Combat: Goku is able to prepare complex strategies when it comes to fighting. On more than one occasion, he was able to defeat opponents he was no match at first against by using the clever tactics. In addition, Goku has said that techniques used against him cannot work more than once, because he can adapt to them and find their weak points.
  • Afterimage Technique (Zanzouken): Moving so swiftly that that Goku's image is left behind, confusing the opponent.
    • Wild Sense: A variation of the Afterimage Technique that allows the user to counterattack right after dodging the opponent's attack.
  • Dragonthrow: The user grabs his opponent's arm, leg, tail, or antenna, then he spins and throws them away.
  • Full-Nelson: The user puts their arms over their opponent's shoulders by going under the arm pits, making the opponent unable to move as freely as usual.
  • Mimicry: Goku is capable of instantly learning techniques performed by other fighters after seeing them only once. He most famously learned Master Roshi's Kamehameha (who took him 50 years to develop), as well as other techniques such as the Drunken Fist and Afterimage Technique. He later learned to perform King Chappa's Eight-Arm Fist, and (in the Dragon Ball Super manga) was even able to use a lesser version of Beerus' Hakai.
  • Rock, Scissors, 'N' Paper (Janken): In the original version, the user shouts "Jan Ken", then a name corresponding to the attack: "Gu", equals rock and will be a strong punch. "Chyoki", equals scissors and will be a poke in the eyes. "Pa", equals paper and will be an open palm strike.
  • Fist of Eight Hands (Hasshu-ken): This involves Goku moving his fists so slow that he seemingly has eight arms, allowing Goku to attack and defend much more efficiently.
  • Headshot: The raises his hand over his opponent's head, and proceeds to flick them on the forehead, knocking the enemy back several meters with no sign of effort while dealing a great amount of damage. Goku utilized technique against Beerus in order to get revenge on him for previously attacking him with it.
  • Super God Shock Flash: Goku places hand with his index and middle fingers out near his opponent's chest then makes a fist to deliver a hard punch to the opponent's gut that blasts them away with a powerful shockwave. Used by Goku against Golden Frieza in Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’.
  • Grudgeless Strike: The user moves around rapidly before powering up and charge the opponent at full speed to punch them in the face.
  • Meteor Combination: First, Goku charges at the opponent and elbows them away. Then, he attacks the opponent with a powerful barrage of kicks and punches, ending with a heavy punch to their stomach. When the opponent lays on the ground paralyzed, Goku jumps up in the air and fires a Super Kamehameha down at the opponent, inflicting a massive amount of damage.
  • Meteor Smash: Goku punches the opponent in the stomach. Then, he punches the opponent away and flies after them to right hook kick them in their face. Finally, Goku axe kicks the side of the opponent's head, knocking them away and inflicting a great deal of damage.
  • Limitbreaking Assault: Goku teams with Frieza and the two attack their foe perfectly in sync.
  • Celestial Whirlwind: Goku disappears and teleports behind the opponent with an arm raised and hits them with an invisible burst of strikes.
• Saiyan Physiology:
  • Superhuman Physique:
    • Superhuman Strength: As a Saiyan, Goku possesses immense physical strength, far more advanced than that of any human being, and most alien races. He is strong enough to effortlessly break all Earthling-made materials or weapons, move in increased gravity without any discomfort, and even lift a suit capable of sinking through a planet. His physical strength is great enough that he can harm notably durable opponents.
    • Superhuman Speed: Goku can move/react to fast paced fighters, including characters said to be as fast or faster than light, and cross vast distances in a short time span. It's also said that he moves faster than can be seen.
    • Superhuman Durability: Goku's body is far more durable than that of normal human beings, being essentially invulnerable to all Earthling-made weapons. He can survive attacks that would dramatically harm other fighters. However, while naturally durable thanks to his Saiyan physiology and training, he does have limits, as other powerful beings as himself can hurt, and potentially kill him, if he does not defend himself correctly, and when purposely lowering his guard and ki to protect him, even an ordinary energy gun shot, was capable of leaving him near death.
    • Superhuman Senses: Goku is able to think and react at extremely high speeds, easily able to dodge or catch projectiles fired from weapons, or even keep up with incredible combat speeds from his opponents. As a Saiyan, Goku also has enhanced senses of smell, taste and sight, which further increase his combat senses and instincts.
    • Superhuman Endurance: Thanks to his physiology and willpower, Goku is capable of exerting himself even if fatigued from using techniques or transformations that cost a lot of his energy or wounded. This was shown when he defeated Piccolo when he was younger despite his limbs being broken and was mortally wounded.
    • Powerful Lungs: Thanks to his physiology, Goku possesses powerful lungs, being even able to breathe in the stratosphere while fighting Beerus.
    • Heat Resistance: Thanks to his Saiyan biology, Goku possesses an extremely high resistance to heat. This was first seen when he was able to calmly relax in the boiling hot saunas of Princess Snake's palace. As the years went by, his resistance to heat only increased, as he was able to fall through the Earth's atmosphere without burning up from the high-speed descent, or when he fought Broly in the high temperatures of lava. However, this could be because Goku's energy acts as a barrier against the lava, and not because his body is naturally resistant to such high temperatures.
  • Ki: Ki is the energy of life force that is stored inside every living being in the Dragon Ball universe. Goku can manipulate his own ki for a variety of different abilities, like enhancing physical abilities, hardening his skin, creating force fields, defying gravity to achieve flight, or discharging it as blasts of destructive energy.
    • Flight: The ability to take flight through the manipulation of ki. However, as a Saiyan, Goku already possesses the innate ability to fly, which later in adulthood, he has shown to completely dominate. In Dragon Ball Fusions, Kid Goku from the time he was training under Kami manages to somehow learn how to fly using ki and demonstrates the same proficiency at flying that his future adult self does.
    • Ki Sense: The ability to sense the energy of other beings. Goku acquired the ability after drinking the Ultra Divine Water but was unable to use it to home in on an opponent's location until he trained with Mr. Popo. He can also hide his ki to prevent someone else senses his.
    • Ki Transfer: Goku can grant some of his energy to another fighter to restore some of their energy.
    • Spirit Control: Thanks to his training on Yardrat, Goku gained the basic level of Spirit Control, allowing him to sense ki at a much greater distance and use Instant Transmission.
    • Cloning/Illusion Creation: An ability used by Goku in his Perfected Ultra Instinct state, Goku creates seven illusionary clones as a distraction.
    • Healing: Goku is able to heal himself by holding his palm up to a wounded body part.
    • Telepathy: A way to communicate with others using one's mind. Users can also read the minds of the ones they communicate with, similar to telepathic eavesdropping. During his time with King Kai, Goku learned this ability and taught himself how to read the minds of others, by placing his palm on their head.
    • Energy Absorption: The ability to absorb the power from a ki-based attack.
    • Telekinesis: A technique that allows the user to manipulate objects and other people with the power of one's mind.
    • Sealing Spell: A spell capable of sealing an entity in any kind of object. Goku uses this against Dr. Lychee in Dragon Ball Z Side Story: True Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans - Space Saga using a sealing tag he obtained on the first planet he visited in the game.
    • Ki Blast: The most basic form of energy wave.
    • Suspended Blast: Goku raises his hand face forward and charges an energy sphere in it in order to intimidate his opponent.
    • Finger Beam: The user holds out their index finger and releases an energy beam from their fingertip.
      • God Shot: Goku points his index and middle fingers in a finger gun pose and fires a short barrage of golden energy blasts at his opponent, before following up with a second, faster barrage of energy.
    • Ki Barrier:
    • Energy Shield: A technique used to generate an energy shield around the user to protect them from attacks.
    • Energy Wave: A ki blast wave.
    • Energy Landmine: Goku drops from his hands small energy spheres that explode at contact. It was first used against Jiren as a distraction.
    • Gravity Bash: Goku creates an energy sphere, which he holds in his hand, and charges at his opponent to hit them with it.
      • Cosmic Rush: Goku creates an energy sphere made of his godly ki and blasts it at point-blank range against his opponent, sending them away and inflicting damage.
    • Kamehameha: Goku's signature attack. Invented by Master Roshi, the Kamehameha is a powerful Ki blast fired with two hands after concentrating a large amount of Ki. Goku first learned this technique after witnessing Roshi use it to extinguish the fire on Fire Mountain. Goku has also invented numerous variations:
      • Feet Kamehameha:
      • Continuous Kamehameha: Goku fires multiple one-handed Kamehamehas from both hands, inflicting a great deal of damage.
        • Kamehameha Barrage: The user fires several waves simultaneously which can also change direction.
      • Bending Kamehameha: A version of the Kamehameha for which the user can change the course, allowing the user to surprise his or her opponent.
      • Flying Kamehameha: An aerial version of the Kamehameha.
      • Twin Dragon Shot: A double energy sphere-controlled version of the Kamehameha.
      • MAX Power Kamehameha: A utilization of the Kamehameha in which the user uses their max power.
      • Super Kamehameha: An advanced and more powerful version of the Kamehameha.
      • Angry Kamehameha: A one-handed version of the Kamehameha.
      • Kaio-Ken Kamehameha: A combination of the Kaio-ken and Super Kamehameha that inflicts extreme damage depending on what Kaio-ken level he is using for the attack.
      • Instant Kamehameha: A combination of the Instant Transmission and Super Kamehameha.
      • True Kamehameha: A more powerful version of the Super Kamehameha.
      • Limitbreaker Kamehameha: A powerful variation of the Super Kamehameha.
      • God Kamehameha: A powerful variation of the Kamehameha.
        • Burst Kamehameha: A shorter ranged double burst variation of the God Kamehameha.
          • Full Power Kamehameha: A combination of the God Kamehameha and Burst Kamehameha.
        • 10x God Kamehameha: A more powerful version of the God Kamehameha.
        • Transcendent God Kamehameha: A more powerful version of the God Kamehameha. Limitbreaker Kamehameha: A powerful variation of the Super Kamehameha.
      • Divine Kamehameha: A Kamehameha wave performed with much more energy output and force than even a God Kamehameha. Much like its original version, it can be manipulated to the user's advantage.
      • Supreme Kamehameha: A Kamehameha fired with far more force and intensity than the Instinctive Reprisal.
      • Kamehameha Blaster: A Kamehameha followed by several energy spheres. Used against Broly.
      • Beyond God Instant Kamehameha: A more powerful God Kamehameha used after misdirecting with multiple usages of Instant Transmission.
    • Kiai: A technique where the user affects the air currents around him with ki to produce powerful shockwaves in order to strike the opponent at mid-range.
      • Shockwave Fist: An attack where the fist is pumped with tremendous energy, releasing a shockwave.
      • Spirit Shot: A two-handed energy technique in which the user stretches their arms out and blows the opponent(s) away with dual Kiai blasts.
      • Invisible Eye Blast: Goku shoots invisible ki blasts from his eyes, however, he rarely uses this technique.
      • Soaring Fist: A powerful Kiai fist performed in Ultra Instinct.
      • Inner Flame: The user unleashes a roar that causes a big shockwave to push the opponent away.
      • Ranbu Gekimetsu: A more powerful variation of Soaring Fist used by Perfected Ultra Instinct Goku.
    • Destructo Disc: Goku holds his hand into the air, conducting ki in the form of a razor-sharp disc, which is then hurled at the target to slice them in half.
      • Destructo Disc Hexa Blade: The user fires what appears to be a single Destructo Disc, which ends up splitting into six separate discs to home in on the foe multiple times.
    • Solar Flare: The user places their hands close to the center of their face with the fingers spread toward their eyes. The user then calls out the name of the technique, which provokes a white light to fire out and blind everything watching except the user, since they are projecting the light.
    • Instant Transmission: A technique for traveling long distances instantly. This action is usually accompanied by the user placing his index and middle fingers on his forehead to help him concentrate, though if extra time is taken the technique can be performed without this aid.
    • Explosive Wave: A technique where the user bursts out ki from all over their body in order to repel the opponents around them.
    • Super Explosive Wave: A powerful energy explosion attack and is a more powerful version of the Explosive Wave.
    • Spirit Bomb: Goku's ultimate attack, which he learned from King Kai. After gathering energy from every living thing around him, Goku can concentrate the energy into a ball of ki that possesses incredible destructive power. The Spirit Bomb is capable of destroying a planet if the user isn't careful, though people with a pure heart are capable of deflecting it. If the user's heart isn't pure, the move could possibly kill them if they attempt to use it. Goku can also absorb the Spirit Bomb's energy, supercharging him and granting him an incredible power boost. WHAT THE HECK IS A KILOMETER????
      • Fusion Spirit Bomb: A normal Spirit Bomb formed with the energy gathered and then granted to someone else to use it.
      • Large Spirit Bomb: A larger and more powerful version of the Spirit Bomb, in which Goku stores the energy in the form of a giant light blue energy sphere in the sky.
      • Instant Spirit Bomb: A combination of the Instant Transmission and Spirit Bomb.
      • Super Spirit Bomb: A larger and more powerful version of the Large Spirit Bomb, which is directly powered by the energy of the living beings and Goku needs them to raise their hands to accumulate their energy.
      • Universe 7's Spirit Bomb: A Super Spirit Bomb powered by every member of Team Universe 7 except Vegeta.
    • Dragon Fist: Goku begins the attack by making a straight fist faced at his enemy and charges him. Then once his fist, along with his own body, exits the stomach or chest of the target, the energy will be amplified massively compared to Goku's normal power and his ki will explode out in the form of an enormous golden dragon and then finally collides into the target, possibly destroying the opponent in its path or leaving a gaping hole.
      • Super Dragon Fist: Goku charges at his opponent as a golden dragon appears around Goku's right arm as he puts his fist forward and punches through the opponent, inflicting a huge amount of damage.
        • Final Strike: A weaker variant of the Super Dragon Fist. It is the energy of the Spirit Bomb used in a normal punch instead of a Dragon Fist.
      • Super Dragon Twin Fist: A two-handed version of the Dragon Fist.
    • Dragon Hammer: Goku fires the 10x Kamehameha directly at the opponent's chest. Then, while the beam is blasting the enemy, Goku flies through the attack and punches the opponent in their stomach with the Dragon Fist. Finally, Goku charges more power into the attack, resulting in the golden dragon overpowering the opponent as it coils around them and pierces through their stomach, inflicting a huge amount of damage.
    • Universe Tree Ball, Big Bang: Technique used by Goku in his Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan (Universe Tree Power) to destroy the Universe Tree and defeat Fu in the manga.
    • Penetrate!: By firing a Kamehameha at the ground with one hand, Goku propels himself at the opponent and punches through them with an energy-powered kick.
    • Beerus Ball: In the anime, the Beerus Ball is formed as a result of Beerus' Cataclysmic Orb clashing with Super Saiyan God Goku's Kamehameha.
    • Full Power Energy Ball: The user creates a sphere of energy and then fires it at the opponent, inflicting greater damage than the normal energy sphere.
    • Final Kamehameha: A combination of Goku's Kamehameha and Vegeta's Final Flash.
    • Transcendence: Goku moves around the opponent, surrounds his opponent with four energy spheres then blasting them away.
    • Mouth Energy Wave: The user blasts a large amount of energy from their mouth.
    • Give Me Energy!: Lifting up his hands towards the sky, Goku concentrates on drawing a massive amount of energy above his head. However, it takes time to draw it in, leading Goku to be wide open and stuck in place for several seconds. It is used in combination with the Spirit Bomb, drastically increasing its already great power.
    • Power up to the Very Limit: A technique which allows the user to instantly regain all of their ki, puts them at MAX Power, and increases all their stats.
    • Godly Ki Mastery: Goku can change the nature of his ki to that of the gods, increasing his power drastically. With the Godly Ki, Goku gains access to god-level transformations such as the Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan Blue.
      • Godly Ki Regeneration: Super Saiyan God Goku is able to regenerate by pouring his godly ki into his wounds.
      • God Bind: By channeling the Saiyan God power through the user's hands, the user can use the energy generated to stop an opponent in their tracks.
      • Godly Strike: The user in an upside-down position strikes the opponent away with his fists.
    • Energy Nullification: During his battle with Beerus, Goku learned how to nullify the negative damaging effects of their clash.
  • Evil Containment Wave: A technique that can seal anyone away by sucking them into a container with a special "Angel Seal" ofuda on it. The move requires so much of the user's life force to perform that those who use it are likely to die soon afterward, despite the success of the technique. The drawbacks of the technique can be negated if one posses enough power to use it without living.
  • Wild Dance Annihilation:
  • Zenkai: A Saiyan genetic trait, where they experience a massive power increase after surviving a non fatal injury.
  • Sign of Awakening: The user charges an energy sphere over their head and fires it into a powerful two-handed energy wave.
  • Hakai: Goku proved able to utilize the Hakai technique to a limited extent by copying it from God of Destruction Beerus. Due to not having the proper training, Goku was required to put all of his divine ki into his hand and release it at once, making it a one-time use attack which will leave him drained. Goku's usage is also not as effective as a God of Destruction's, requiring him more time to complete and his constant focus. This allowed Fused Zamasu to use Future Mai as a shield, preventing Goku from completing the attack. Goku himself later noted that his usage of this technique was a failure compared to the mastered version.
• Autonomous Ultra Instinct: A highly advanced mental state. Goku gradually learned this from training under Whis. During the Tournament of Power, Goku unlocked a special state and perfected it, enabling him to put Whis' teachings to use. Using Ultra instinct, Goku's physical and mental parameters are vastly augmented, providing him with not only equally increased combat performance, but also giving him access to the Ultra Instinct ability, allowing him to instinctively dodge and attack any nearby threat in the most effective way possible. Despite the usefulness of this ability, Goku could initially only access it as a subconscious reaction to the direst of situations. After training with Merus, and during the battle with Moro, he was able to consciously access it and utilize the incomplete and completed forms at will. Further training with Whis has resulted in Goku even being able to access Ultra Instinct outside of the transformations, though his control of it outside of the forms is incomplete. He can also combine this usage with his Super Saiyan forms, which allows him to increase his precision with it.

• Power Pole: An unbreakable magical staff that can extend and contract at an infinite rate. It was Goku's main weapon at the earlier parts of Dragon Circle.
• Flying Nimbus: A magical cloud rainbow sparkles butterfly corn that serves as a mode of transportation for Goku, which can fly at speeds of Mach 1.5. Only people with pure hearts can ride it.
