Firebrand is the protagonist of the Gargoyle's Quest trilogy of the Ghosts 'n Goblins series.
Backstory[]
Before Firebrand[]
The Red Blaze is a title shared through generations and generations of heroic gargoyle's, his ancestor for example who is mentioned in the story and is the main character in Gargoyle's Quest II, he defeats Breager and destroys The Black Light by burning it with fire
Gargoyle's Quest[]
Firebrand is called to embark on a journey to stop the menace of the undead king of destruction, Breager, who had returned while he was away. He is told this by three of the dying civilians of the Ghoul Realm. Breager had been plotting to overtake the whole realm of the Makai from the ruling monarchy using his endless minions controlled by the evil king's psychic power, letting everyone believe he had been destroyed. During his adventure, he finds out that he is The Red Blaze from Majorita.
As Firebrand collected mystical artifacts while approaching Breager's keep, his powers continued to develop, making him stronger than ever before. However, to unleash his true potential, he needed the Eternal Candle that Lucifer had; after a battle to prove his worth, Firebrand receives the candle from Lucifer, unsealing the secrets to master arcane dark fire magic none of his kind could ever achieve. After discovering his heritage, Firebrand finally confronts Breager, slaying the evil king as he promises vengeance. The king of the Makai is then released from Breager's seal, wiping out the evil king's whole army. As a reward, Firebrand is sent once more to the mortal world, and is told that he can try conquering it if he wants.
Demon's Crest[]
One day Six Crests fell from the sky, they gave the user elemental powers based on the Crest used, the Crest were the Crest of Fire, Earth, Water, Air, Time, and Heaven, and when all of them come together the Crest of Infinity appears giving the user the power of Infinity and beyond. A war broke out known as the Crest War, with the only hero of said war was Firebrand, who wanted to end the war. Firebrand fought with all the other ghouls for the Six Crests. He was successful and obtained all of the Crests - however, Phalanx, current ruler of the Ghoul Realm, took the opportunity he saw in the critically wounded Firebrand and took all the Crests for himself, planning on ruling over both Ghoul and Human Realm. Firebrand was imprisoned in the Colosseum, forced to fight for his life and unexpected to survive.
However, Firebrand managed to destroy Somulo, the zombie dragon thrown against him in the Colosseum, and escaped. He was quickly thwarted by Phalanx's General, Arma, who would come to respect Firebrand's strength in their following matches while Firebrand searched for the crests to avenge himself.
In the bad ending, when Firebrand doesn't defeat Arma for the third time, Arma says that the one who defeats the king becomes the new ruler, Firebrand leaves for the Human Realm as the Ghoul Realm plunders into chaos, the residents of the Makai now wonder if it was better under Phalanx's protection instead of the hell they're confined to now
In the neutral ending, when Firebrand doesn't collect all of the items, Phalanx is sealed inside of the Heaven Crest, stated that he will return at some point. Firebrand hides the Crests in the Ghoul Realm.
In the good ending, Firebrand defeats Phalanx and hides the Crests in the Human Realm, he now is ready to shape his own destiny
In the true ending, possibly coming after the good ending, Firebrand defeats the Dark Demon who was in the Human Realm, and realises that he is more powerful than the crests are, he hides the Crests in the Human Realm. He then waits for a new warrior who could challenge him.
