Doomsday is a character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics.
Background[]
Before Krypton was a utopian world, it was a violent, hellish one in which only the strongest creatures could survive. An alien scientist named Bertron intended on creating the ultimate life form. Many of his experiments were met in failure, however he continued, taking cells from each previous test subject until he was met with success and created Doomsday... who escaped from his custody and went on a killing spree across numerous planets, eventually coming across Earth, where he supposedly killed Superman...
Powers & Abilities[]
- Unique Physiology: Doomsday was created and evolved through cloning an infant and having it killed over and over again by one of the most dangerous species of the universe and in one of the harshest habitats in existence, prehistoric Krypton. As such, he returns to life every time he dies and becomes near invulnerable to what killed him before. His entire body is built as a defensive structure which continues to arm itself the more it is damaged.
- Limitless Strength: Doomsday is incredibly strong, possessing an unlimited strength level. While evolving, Doomsday could shatter a dimension within the Phantom Zone using nothing but brute force. He also broke one of Wonder Woman's arms just by punching it. Doomsday can easily overpower and kill humans and engage other powerful aliens like sun powered Kryptonians. He can bend and break through reinforced steel, destroy impenetrable barriers, and can lift extremely heavy objects with little to no effort, uproot trees and buildings/structures as well as decimate them with his might. He is strong and powerful enough to overcome entire rosters of superhumans, like the Justice League and the Green Lantern Corps.
- Super-Leaping: He was incapable of flight but due to his extremely dense muscles and strength in his legs, he can leaps miles at a time. Superman took advantage of this in their first battle by attempting to keep him airborne. Superman also used it to his advantage when he deposited Doomsday in a lake to try slow him down.
- Self-Evolution: If something kills him once, it cannot kill him again & he will either instantaneously heal from it instead or be invulnerable to it. He can survive in space and can even operate while in the direct presence of space vacuums, vortexes and wormholes, and he does not require oxygen, water, or any form of nourishment to maintain himself.
- Accelerated Healing: He also has a highly accelerated healing power that allows him to heal and regenerate from most damage almost instantly.
- Immortality: Doomsday is functionally immortal, meaning he will never age or wither due to time. It is unknown if this is due to his regenerative healing or through other means.
- Invulnerability: Doomsday is almost completely resistant to all forms of physical and mental types of harm, and as such, bullets bounce off him, rockets, lasers and bombs will not leave a mark on him, and high-voltage energy emissions cannot penetrate through his tough hide. He has even been able to withstand Darkseid's Omega Beams.
- Energy Absorption: To aid in his growth cycle Doomsday would siphon the very energy and lives of anything around him into himself, becoming evermore powerful and expedite his further evolution.
- Energy Resistance
- Superhuman Speed: Most surprising is his speed for his bulked size. In a matter of moments, Doomsday managed to render most of the Justice League incapable of fighting.
- Superhuman Reflexes
- Regeneration: Doomsday heals much faster than most people do, making it incredibly hard to kill him. His regenaration is also pretty fast, able to regenarate in mere seconds.
- Resurrection: Because he heals from any injury, Doomsday eventually comes back to life after he's died by regenerating back to peak condition.
- Adaptation: He constantly adapts to forms of attack. After experiencing one form of attack he learns how to resist it in the future. Superman used a sound gun to paralyze Doomsday, but Doomsday's auditory canals closed making him impervious to the weapon. Waverider paralyzed Doomsday once with "chronal" energy, but the second attempt backlashes on him.
- Resurrection: Because he heals from any injury, Doomsday eventually comes back to life after he's died by regenerating back to peak condition.
- Toxikinesis: Prior to his death, Doomsday was capable of emitting a toxin that would kill anything near him. Even Superman could only confront him for a short while before succumbing to his presence.
- Doomsday Conversion: An effect of Doomsday's new abilities. The potential letheality of which, while still incredibly caustic, was also discovered to be able to convert others afflicted by his miasma into Doomsday-like monstrosities.
- Murderous Possession: Upon his death by the hands of Superman he was able to adversely affect him, Kal-El started to warp biologically to resemble Doomsday due to the beast imprinting his entire essence onto his genetic code.
- Molecular Reconstruction: His poison didn't just intoxicate organic elements. Everything around him within 100 yards began to degenerate and die; desert sand burned into onyx in his wake, people a good distance away burst' into flames, brick & stone spontaneously dissolving at a molecular level, etc.
- Doomsday Conversion: An effect of Doomsday's new abilities. The potential letheality of which, while still incredibly caustic, was also discovered to be able to convert others afflicted by his miasma into Doomsday-like monstrosities.
- Unlimited Stamina: Doomsday can take part in super-powered battles for months on end. He fought Superman through Metropolis for days of physical combat until even the Man of Steel was broken.
- Claws: Very sharp bone protrusions, able to cut through the flesh of a powered Kryptonian.
- Venomous & Extendable Claws: Doomsday can stretch his claws various meters, and make them venomous.
- Telescopic Vision
- Teleportation: Doomsday was capable of warping from location to location via the Phantom Zone.
- Incredible Senses: He is able to sense and see jets miles away with perfect detail and sense Kryptonians and will single-mindedly hunt them.
- Doomsday Virus: Doomsday is, at it’s core, a virus with the intention of wiping out all life in the universe. His presence can generate a corrosive field that rapidly decays all life nearby. This destroys down to even the microbes nearby. Doomsday drains the life essence of all life nearby to become stronger. If Doomsday’s body is disrupted enough it will turn into a black mist. This mist can infect those nearby and fuse them with Doomsday. This infection is so powerful as to even infect Superman, making SuperDoom. Doomsday can breathe poisonous gases or shoot it from his hands, poison so powerful as to harm New 52 Wonder Woman.
- Energy Manipulation: After evolving to fight The Radiant, Doomsday gained the ability to manipulate energy. He can drain it from nearby electrical sources, as well as physically grab energy beings like The Radiant, or disperse energy. He can then fire them as energy rays from his hand or in some versions, as energy pulses emanating from his body. In particular, Doomsday seems to have an affinity for thermal energy, heat. Doomsday passively emanates heat, enough to destabilize an island on the molecular level. He can shoot Heat Vision from his eyes like a Kryptonian. He can also breathe fire like a dragon. This fire was enough to threaten the Martian Manhunter (though Martian Manhunter has a particular weakness to fire.)
- Extra-Dimensional Punch: Doomsday’s claws seem to have some kind of spatial rending capacities. In the New 52 he was able to pierce a hole out of the Phantom Zone. The Phantom Zone (also called Underworld) is on a higher realm of existence, a plane as large as Heaven which is a Multiverse in itself. Underworld is in the Sphere of the Gods, past the Speed Force Wall, suggesting this feat in-universe is even more impressive than Superboy Prime punching his way out of the Speedforce. Either way, it suggests he can tear holes in dimensions should he choose. Likely via this ability he has also shown the ability to hit intangible opponents. He was able to hit a Phased Martian Manhunter (although at the time he was possessed by Prin Vnok so the feat may not be applicable to Doomsday alone).

Weaknesses[]
- Fear of Pain and Death: Doomsday retains traumatic memories of when Bertron was experimenting to create him, and because of this, he actually has a fear of pain, which really isn't that big of a problem for him.
- Minor Solar Dependence: As he is indeed a prehistoric Kryptonian, Doomsday's regeneration is amplified by the Sun, and it can take him several millennia to revive when in total darkness.
- Kryptonite: Though it cannot kill him, Kryptonite can indeed weaken Doomsday's abilities.
- Single-Mindedness: Due to the fact that Doomsday was unintentionally programmed to hate everything that lives, Doomsday will focus only on killing, and could potentially be led into a trap.
- Lack of Defensive Techniques: Doomsday won’t do very much to protect himself, as he is so used to not feeling anything since all of his opponents have been so much weaker. A strong opponent can surprise him with this fact. His exposed bone structure, a weaker part of his body, used to be a weakness for Doomsday, but he evolved past that.
- Entropy: This is the one thing that Doomsday cannot regenerate from nor form an immunity to. When sent to the end of time, he was finally destroyed along with the rest of the universe in that he simply ceased to exist.
- Monstrous Appearance
