Dark Meta Knight render

Background[]

An alternative dimension version of Meta Knight that originates from the once peaceful Mirror World, he was corrupted into evil by Dark Mind along with the rest of that reality by copying the darkness in the heart of his main universe counterpart into him, becoming Dark Meta Knight. He first appeared as the secondary antagonist and a notable character in Amazing Mirror. Later he would show up as the surprise final boss of the non-canon Dededetour sub-game in Triple Deluxe, being implied to have been responsible for that game's main villain descent into evil. He would then reappear in Star Allies participating with Kirby & co., harnessing Friend Powers and possibly hanging out with fellow allies. He was one of a few Dream Friends who didn't redeem himself from being evil but simply worked along everyone anyway in the incidents they resolve.

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Regeneration & Resurrection: Later in Star Allies, Dark Meta Knight shows to instantly recover from being impaled by allies or by an enemy Flamberge's Barbecue Party, being mildly harmed by the latter. Dark Meta Knight has came back from having his body shattered like a mirror and reduced to nothing visible, having recovered in an unknown amount of time. The same destruction happens to his body upon being defeated in The TRUE Arena minigame from Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and in Kirby Star Allies if he's played alone (otherwise he falls defeated like everyone else. Despite the latter game's emphasis on team work, he can be played alone in side content). Other inhabitants of the Mirror World and the dimension the Black Mirror leads into also have their body shattered like a mirror upon taking enough damage, with one of them seemingly recovering from this in the middle of combat. Dark Meta Knight was stated to have revived in a non-canon minigame from Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and was later stated to have resurrected in his canon appearance in Star Allies. As a conclusion, he either revived around the time of Triple Deluxe or he did so around the time of Star Allies, simply being stated to have resurrected again to clarify why he's not dead for those who weren't aware of the less important mode where he showed up. It's possible he might have revived a short amount of time after being destroyed, but this can't be assumed as Dark Mind, the Mirror World inhabitant who displayed doing this, was a much more notable being than Dark Meta Knight.
  • Mach Tornado:
  • Drill Rush:
  • Energy Sword Beams:
  • Tornado Generation:
  • Duplication of others: Has the ability to split living things into 4 equal beings.
  • Down Thrust (下突き/したつき): Holds his sword downward and quickly swoops down from midair.
  • Tornado Slash (竜巻斬り): Briefly charges power to then thrust his sword into the ground, creating a relatively big tornado moving forward. The tornado will disappear after a short while if little power is charged. In Triple Deluxe he shows being able to use this midair consecutively, controlling the trajectory of the tornados he creates.
  • Mirror-based Techniques:
    • Mirror's Edge (ミラーズエッジ): Thrusts huge swords from of the ground coming from mirrors that appear to serve as portals. Uses this move consecutively in different patterns when more serious.
    • Mirrors' Division (ミラーズディビジョン): Briefly charges power to then make himself stand inside a mirror around his body, then duplicates himself & that mirror into 3. The 3 mirrors will quickly move around exchanging places to then all approach, then the Dark Meta Knights will shortly come out of the mirrors to thrust their swords, the original making the better attack & only he taking damage from attacks. The duplicates act a bit off, so a foe can know which one is the original before they swap places. The mirrors will be group up into 1 again before duplicating into 3 to try the same move, and this whole process is repeated a few times. After it, the Dark Meta Knight duplicates will come out from the mirrors to attack the foe. The duplicates have low durability and if destroyed they will blow up into sharps of glass that will quickly home into the foe. The duplicates will eventually regroup into 1 if neither is destroyed. Dark Meta Knight started using this technique when more serious in Triple Deluxe.
  • Dark Beam:
  • Dark Triple Slash:
  • Dark Multithrust:
  • Triple Crescent Shot:
  • Dark Spiral:
  • Meteor Edge:
  • Dark Calibur: After briefly charging power, Dark Meta Knight lunges slightly forward and up into the air. Any enemies caught in this attack will be sliced multiple times and then smashed into the ground. Dark Meta Knight seems to be using duplicates of himself when slicing the target.
  • Dark Mirror: Rapidly splits into two duplicates propelling into opposite directions as an attack, then they quickly come back to reform as one.
    • Dark Mirror - Ring: While midair, creates 6 duplicates of himself to form a "ring" around himself as an attack, then they disappear.
  • Reflector Shield: Dark Meta Knight hides inside a mirror, which reflects enemy projectiles. He is likely to be within the Mirror World, a realm in the Kirby-verse with great similarities to the regular universe. Simply enter a mirror as an object is not an ability he or anyone have shown to possess. Dark Meta Knight can stay in the mirror as he wants to, and get out of it at will.
  • Master Swordsmanship:
  • Acrobatics: Dark Meta Knight can instantly make leaps of around a meter, mobilize by spinning around & back his body mid-air to dodge attacks, and easily & quickly do flips and wacky moves during diverse victory dances, as well as making an immediate flip at the highest reach of a jump.

Feats[]

Strength[]

  • Fought on par with King Dedede, though he did lose.
  • Can contend with four Kirbys before being defeated, in each of their two fights.
    • Keep in mind the one Kirby we all know and love, once striked planet Pop-Star hard enough to crack the planet in half.
  • Being a copy of Meta Knight, it wouldn't be false to scale Dark Meta Knight to his like-counterpart... since, y'know... they're copies of each other... AND the fact that Dark Meta Knight actually DEFEATED Meta Knight in a 1-on-1 fight.
  • Defeated Morpho Knight, who is basically Galacta Knight... but a butterfly... and is also more powerful than Galacta Knight, who is more powerful than Meta Knight.

Speed[]

  • Being a copy of Meta Knight, it wouldn't be false to scale Dark Meta Knight to his like-counterpart... since, y'know... they're copies of each other... AND the fact that Dark Meta Knight actually DEFEATED Meta Knight in a 1-on-1 fight.
    • Meta Knight could casually fly from one end of the galaxy to the other in seconds.
      • Not too surprising actually, Meta Knight has flown from game stage to game stage without using a Warp Star, but travelling at the same speeds.
        • Meaning Meta Knigth's flight speed must be comparable to a Warp Star (comparing the Warp Star to real-life Shooting Stars (both travel quickly through the air, both leave a trail behind when they are travelling, both like to crash land), 160,000 MPH).

Durability[]

  • Took blows from four Kirbys before being defeated, in each of their two fights.
