“ | I am the alienated, the ridiculed, the despised. No need to praise my name. No need to envy my body. I am the shadow under the radiance of heroic spirits. Birthed of the darkness of glorious legend. And so, I hate, I resent. Nourished by the sighs of the people precipitated within the darkness, people that curse the light. This is my disgrace. Because of her unsullied glory, I must forever be belittled. | „ |
~ Berserker |
Berserker is a character in the Fate series, first appearing in Fate/Zero. His real name is Lancelot, also known as the Knight of the Lake, where he is a negative symbol of his legend.
Background []
Berserker is summoned by Kariya Matou in the 4th Holy Grail War. Due to Kariya Matou being very needy as a wizard, Zouken Matou compensated by forcing him to obtain a Mad Enhancement Servant, Berserker. Until his identity was revealed, he was known simply as the Black Knight. Berserker always seeks to face Saber throughout history and has a great deal of knowledge about King Arthur, as he had knowledge of the shape and length of Excalibur. When his helmet shatters, Berserker shows his true identity to Saber, Lancelot, the Knight of the Lake.
Powers & Abilities[]
- For Someone's Glory: Not For One's Own Glory: Berserker manifests itself as a black mist. Combined with his armor, which completely covers his body, this ability hides Berserker's identity and personal status. His body is shrouded in a black haze with properties similar to Invisible Air, which constantly changes its outline like an out-of-focus photograph that obscures the distinguishing features of the armor. Even if he takes off his helmet, it will be impossible to discern his face. The mist-shaped illusion also makes your image double or triple randomly, making it look like a hallucination and prevents the use of a Master with clairvoyance to read Berserker's status.
- Knight of Owner: A Knight Does Not Die with Empty Hands: it is a skill that is the embodiment of the incident in which Lancelot was forced to fight unarmed Phelot and proved his fighting skills by claiming victory with an elm branch. Instead of an open weapon, it manifests itself as a "unique ability" held by your body. Once Berserker grabs anything that can even be remotely conceptualized as a weapon by his own recognition with his gauntlets and he recognizes that he wants to wield it, he instantly gains the property of "becoming his Noble Phantasms". Noble Phantasms from the Servants will instantly go to him if he grabs them. Can only be activated for objects recognized as "Weapons".
- Mad Enhancement: It gains an improvement for all parameters except Luck and Mana, but in return, Berserker can no longer think and speak correctly.
- Protection of the Spirits: A blessing from Elementals that raises Berserker's Luck in dangerous situations on the battlefield.
- Eternal Arms Mastership: An ability born from one's extreme skill in combat. Lancelot, the greatest Knight of the Round, is an unrivaled battle master in his era. His technique is ingrained into every aspect of his body, a complete merger of his body, mind, and skills that allow him to make perfect use of his abilities even when under the effects of mental interference.
Equipment []
- Arondight: Lancelot's holy sword, the counterpart to the greatest holy sword, Excalibur. It is also a divine construction, engraved with fairy letters. It was given only to the strongest, bravest and true knight of his time, the Knight of the Lake, Lancelot. After Lancelot used it to kill his fellow knights to rescue Guinevere, she lost her status as a holy sword and her madness stained her. It is still his true Noble Phantasms, however, sealing his other two and increasing all his parameters once plotted, in addition to doubling the success rate of his endurance tests.
- F-15 jet: A jet that Berserker takes control during the war using his Noble Phantasm "Knight of Owner".
- Machine guns and Rifles
