Powers & Abilities

• Conduit of The Red: Garfield's genetic code contains a "metagene" that allows him to tap into The Red, an energy field that connects and pervades all animal life and micro-organisms in the universe. Garfield's connection to The Red allows for a genetic sense memory, as well as a propensity for replication and transmutation of his own body.
  • Therianthropy: Beast Boy has the ability to morph into any animal he knows of. He can change into extinct animals and even animals from different planets. When he changes, it only takes a couple of seconds. It does not matter how big or small. It does not put strain on him to do this. He can stay in an animal's form indefinitely. Animals native to Earth are easy to transform into and control, however Beast Boy can transform into other unknown creatures, and while in these forms he cannot control them as easily. In the years he has mastered his abilities to the point where he can selectively transform only certain parts of his body while maintaining the rest human, or assume an animal-human hybrid form similar to that of a werewolf. He can even transform into a demon-like creature.
    • Animal Mimicry: Beast Boy has the power to mimic the abilities of any animal he knows of while he is in their form. The ability apparently gives him intuitive understanding of the animals and what abilities they have that may be useful in the situation.
    • Animal Empathy:
    • Bio-Fission: Beast Boy is able to transform into a swarm of insects. However, splitting his mind across multiple creatures is a risk, because if one of them dies, Gar feels a small piece of himself fade away.
    • Enhanced Intellect: Beast Boy is able to expand his brain capacity to think faster and more efficiently, by transforming into a whale.

    • Flight: Beast Boy can fly, by transforming into various creatures with wings, such as a bird or a pterodactyl.
    • Infection: When transformed into a Starro-like creature, Gar released thousands of spores that infected people across the planet and transforming them into various beasts.
    • Size Alteration: Beast Boy can alter his size at will, depending on which animal he takes the form of. He can shrink to the size of a mouse, or even grow to massive sizes. He can even grow in size without transforming into an animal.

    • Superhuman Strength: Beast Boy can possess the immense strength of animals such as gorillas, or even deadly alien creatures.
    • Superhuman Speed:
    • Superhuman Durability: Beast Boy can become much more resistant to injury than any normal human, by transforming into various animals.

• Acting: As Rita Farr was an actress, he too learned some acting skills. He was a good enough actor to star in several TV shows.

• Encyclopedic Animal Knowledge: Beast Boy is aware of even the most obscure details about animal biology, behavior and statistics, which he uses to his advantage when the situation requires the skill of a particular animal.

• Monstrous Appearance: After the events of No Justice, Beast Boy lost control over his powers, and his default form was a hulking, hunch-backed creature. He regained control over his form after a journey in the Bleed purged the Source energy from his body.
• Missing Eye: Beast Boy was shot in the face by Deathstroke and his right eye was severely damaged as a result.
