Aquaman (Super Friends)

Background[]

Like his comic counterpart, Aquaman is the son of a ex-sailor turned lighthouse keeper, Tom Curry, and Atlanna, a water-breathing outcast from the lost, underwater city of Atlantis. However, unlike the main comics, Atlanna became ill and on her death bed explained to her son and husband that she was really from the lost city of Atlantis, a city whose people could live under the sea, and that she was forced into exile by her people. In her dying breath, she told her son that he would one day be ruler of the oceans. The widowed lighthouse keeper then trained Arthur to control his powers, and sent him to school on the surface to get an education. Eventually, Arthur decided to use his talents to become the defender of the Earth's oceans and its inhabitants, starting a career as "Aquaman" and joining the Justice League of America.

Powers & Abilities[]

Atlantean Physiology: The Atlanteans are offshoots of humanity that are biologically adapted to the deep ocean environment. All their abilities are by-products of their bodies being adapted to survive unprotected in the tremendous pressures of the ocean depths.
- Enhanced Physiology: His bloodstream is filled with an amino acid that keeps his body from freezing in the ocean depths, although his own temperature is naturally quite high, allowing his muscles the heat they need to swim at such high speeds. This amphibious physiology / hybrid physiology means he can survive indefinitely underwater or on land (though he would still need occasional contact with water to survive) this length can be prolonged by the humidity in the air.
- Superhuman Strength: He can lift approximately 8 tons.
- Superhuman Stamina:
- Superhuman Speed: Aquaman can swim at superhuman speed.
- Superhuman Durability: He can survive at depths of up to 3,400 feet below surface level. His body contains fluids that adjust to give him buoyancy at varying depths. His body also produces gases that push out against the ocean pressures as heavily as they push in, preventing him from being crushed at great depths. His body is also highly impervious to physical injury.
- Telepathy: Aquaman considered himself and Wonder Woman to be "telepathy experts," He had an ability he called "aquatic telepathy," which allowed him to telepathically communicate with sea creatures. This super power also seemed to allow him the ability to telepathically communicate with Jayna while she was in the form of a sea-dwelling life form.
- Flight:
- Animal Control: He can control the minds of virtually any marine creature, forcing them to do his will.
- Hydrokinesis/Water Control: He inherited the ability to mystically control water and water-based solutions for a variety of effects. He can manipulate water currents, create whirlpools and boil or freeze vast bodies of water.

- Enhanced Senses: Aquaman has sonar hearing, allowing him to zero in on submarines and anything else in the dark watery deep. He also has the ability to see in the murky depths of the ocean allows him exceptional night vision while on land. Tempest has excellent close range vision and he can see particularly well in low light. He is partially color blind, almost unable to distinguish between black, green, and blue.
Oceanography: He has encyclopedic knowledge of oceanography and oceanology.
Marine Biology: He is also quite familiar with the creatures of the deep.

Trident of Neptune: No version of Aquaman comes complete without one of these. This special trident once belonged to the God of the Sea, Neptune, and symbolizes Aquaman’s royal heritage as it is given to the Ruler of Atlantis.
Aqua-Scooter: Aquaman’s personal vehicle. It can be ridden across the surface of the water or be used as a submarine

- Storm the Seahorse: Aquaman’s seahorse (who’s actually competent, unlike his master). Storm often serves as Aquaman’s steed in order to get to one location or the other and, unlike Tusky below, can help quite a bit in a punch, as shown with the fight against Nepto’s minions.

Speed[]

He's able to travel from Florida to Maine in under an hour, almost twice the speed of sound (1,347 miles / Mach 1.75).
Said to be faster than a barracuda (barracudas can swim 36 mph / 58 kph).

Reacted and moved out of the way of a whale and grabs its fin.

Scales to Black Vulcan, who flew to the Moon in a short timeframe (0.427c).

Durability[]

Can withstand the crushing depths of the ocean floor (the pressure at the bottom of the Mariana Trench is 16,000 pounds per square inch. That's about a hundred elephants stepping on you all at once).
Survived getting hit by Nepto’s electricity, which is strong enough to move boulders and destroy a ship.
Got hit by a monster’s tail.
Survived an explosion from a bobby-trapped controller.
Tanked a beam from Magneto (still not that one).
Got hit by a giant mole creature.
Scales to the Wonder Twins, who survived being in the center of an earthquake that was going to destroy a city.
Possibly scales to Superman, who survived being sucked into a black hole that had Kryptonite.
Scales to Batman, who, alongside Robin and Black Vulcan, survived their atoms getting broken up with a disintegration ray.

Has bested his arch-rival Black Manta numerous times.

Weaknesses[]

Water Deprivation: If Aquaman stays out of the water for an hour or so, he will start to weaken, and eventually die.
Power Limitation: His control over marine life was not absolute, as he couldn't always take control of all forms of underwater life. In fact, the more intelligent they were, the less likely he could take control. Dolphins and other cetacean species, were usually too smart for him to control, so he instead would telepathically "ask" for their help. Still, there were other lifeforms that were more hostile in nature that were less likely to help Aquaman, and even more likely to attack him.
In the multiverse of Aquamen, out of all of them, SUPER FRIENDS AQUAMAN IS THE LAMEST F***ING ONE!!! HE’S A RIP-OFF!!! A JOKE!!! HE IS NO SUPERHERO!!!
