~ Amethyst
Amethyst is a main protagonist of the animated series, Steven Universe.

Unlike the other Crystal Gems, Amethyst didn't come from the gem's homeworld, but was created on Earth's Kindergarten placed by the homeworld authority to expand their army. It is implied that, being a quartz, Amethysts are designed to be strong warriors just like Jaspers, however, it is also implied that Amethyst was left to regenerate too long, thus giving her a not as strong and more childlike appearance when she appeared. For this reason, she was abandoned in the Kindergarten, only to be discovered later by Rose Quartz, who happily accepted her into the Crystal Gems.

Powers & Abilities

  • Shapeshifting: Amethyst can freely mold her body into different shapes and forms. Out of the Crystal Gems, she uses this ability most often.
  • Spin Dash: Amethyst is able to roll herself into a ball and spin herself at high speeds towards her target, she also has a homing version of it.
    • Homing Attack: Spins around and homes in on any nearby enemy.
  • Hair-Blade: Amethyst has shown the capability to use her hair as a blade to slash at her foes with.

  • Whip: Amethyst's signature weapon is a three-tailed whip which she can summon two of. This whip is strong enough to slice through steel like nothing and she can use it to channel purple energy, ending in a small explosion. Thanks to Bismuth, the whip now has three flails attached to it, likely making it a more effective weapon.

  • Anytime she uses her spin dash

  • Tanked being smashed into the ground hard enough to form a crater
  • A bear trap getting stuck on her head was only an annoyance
  • Walked off being slammed into a stone wall

  • Inferiority Complex: At times, Amethyst states that she knows she's reckless and isn't strong, and because of that, she often feels inferior to Garnet and Pearl. This is made even worse by the fact that she's a defective Quartz, who are designed to be powerful warriors.
  • Laziness: Amethyst can sometimes be rather lazy and this has gotten her in trouble in the past.
  • Gem Physiology: If she takes too much damage, she will be forced to retreat into her Gem, leaving in vulnerable. If her Gem is cracked, she'll suffer fatal side effects, and shattering it will straight up kill her.
  • Recklessness: Amethyst is more carefree and reckless in battle, not taking things as seriously as the other Crystal Gems.
