A-Train

Background

Reggie Franklin AKA A-Train had a history with abusing Compound V in order to become the fastest speedster in the world. He left Teenage Kix to serve as the Seven's speedster after their original speedster, Marathon, got killed in the past.

Powers & Abilities

• Compound V: A-Train was given copious amounts of Compound V, a powerful chemical developed by Nazi scientists to give humans (and other beings) incredible superpowers, but with a litany of side-effects depending on the physiological makeup of the person and the amount used. As a result, A-Train gained incredible power.
  • Superhuman Speed: As the self-proclaimed "world's fastest man" and described as "a fierce competitor" by Shockwave, A-Train is able to move at inhuman speeds, appearing as a distorted blur of motion to onlookers. He first discovered his power when he was three years old, where he outran a bullet fired at him,(even standard 9 mm bullet moves at 1,500 miles per hour). This allows him to run across entire city blocks in mere seconds. On Compound V, his speed is further enhanced, which allowed him to defeat Shockwave in a race for the title of "the fastest man alive," simultaneously setting a new record for himself. However, he had trouble controlling himself as he accidentally killed Robin Ward, Hughie's girlfriend by running into her, which reduced her to a shower of blood and made him accidentally swallow one of her molars. Before his race with Shockwave, he shot up Compound V in a blur. He additionally could use this speed as a weapon, such as when he repeatedly smashed the Female's head against a wall. According to the announcer, A-Train reaches speeds in excess of 1,000 mph (1,609.34 kph/Mach 1.3), which is faster than the speed of sound. The results of his race with Shockwave stated that he ran 371 meters per second (829.9 mph/1,335.6 kph/Mach 1.08), while Shockwave only ran 342 meters per second, where 343 meters per second is the speed of sound (765.03 mph/1,231.2 kph). Billy Butcher has estimated that A-Train can cover all of Manhattan in 30 minutes, and A-Train himself stated he could cover all of New York City in three hours. It is also implied that A-Train can run on water, as he ran from New York to Havana, Cuba.
    • Accelerated Perception: While traveling at high speeds, A-Train is able to perceive the world around him as though it is standing still. While in a fight with Starlight, he was able to see her energy blasts and dodge them before they had a chance to hit him.
    • Superhuman Metabolism: A-Train possesses a highly efficient and incredibly quick metabolism. While working out, he had to consume 3,000 calories per hour to maintain his energy without passing out.
    • Regenerative Healing Factor: A-Train can rapidly heal from his injuries. He was estimated to recover from a fractured femur in six weeks, but his bones fused back together in a matter of days.
  • Superhuman Strength: A-Train possesses superhuman strength, which he used to slam the Female through a wall in the train tunnels. His strength also allowed him to slowly pull a several-carriage train, and trade blows with as well as knock around Starlight several feet through the air, another individual who also possesses enhanced strength. As he started his race with Shockwave, he broke the stone wall he placed his foot against, and later knocked The Female through an underground wall.
  • Superhuman Durability: A-Train was able to withstand the superhuman strength of another supe, Starlight, without issue.
  • Speedster Physiology: Reggie's body is adapted towards the rigors of high-speed running. His cardiovascular and respiratory systems are many times more efficient than those of a normal human being. He metabolizes an estimated 99.5% of the caloric energy content of foodstuffs (normal humans only use about 25%). The chemical processes in Reggie's muscles do not generate fatigue toxins, the byproduct of locomotion which forces the body to rest. His joints are smoother, his tendons have the tensile strength of spring steel, and his bones are made of significantly more durable calcium. Reggie's reaction time and the speed at which his brain processes information are heightened to a level similar to his running speed, enabling him to perceive his surroundings while traveling at high velocities. Reggie's tear glands produce tears that are more viscous than normal, which prevents rapid evaporation and allows for the constant replenishment of surface fluids on his eyeballs under the influence of high wind velocity. Reggie's body is more flexible, agile, and stronger than any human could achieve.

Strength

• Pulled a multi-car train as part of his training
• Shatters a concrete divider by kicking off of it
• Backhands Kimiko through a concrete wall and leaves a crater on another concrete wall
• While amped by Compound V, he obliterated Robin's body running through her somewhat accidentally.
• While himself in a bad condition and moments before having a heart attack, he knocked down Starlight, who took .50 caliber bullets without going through her skin, though they caused her some pain.

• Runs through a human being, liquifying her body on impact.
• Exceeds 1,000 mph regularly, around Mach 1.3
• Finishes a 400 meter dash at just over a second. An explicit speed of 371 meters per second was shown during this race.
• Grabs a number of heroin needles and jabs them into a woman’s arms before she can react. Later, forensics reports claim that a needle shattered bone.
• Quickly zooms behind Hughie and checks around for backup.
• Evades Starlight’s blasts, perceiving them in slow motion and reaching to speeds of 286,591,365 mph, 461,224,094 km/h or Mach 373,521.
• Snatches a pouch from Starlight’s boot before she can respond.
• Billy Butcher believes that A-Train can “cover all of Manhattan in 30 minutes” looking for a target.
• Tracks down a specific person in New York, claiming that he can cover the five boroughs of New York in 3 hours.
• Enters the Church’s archives, steals a confidential folder and leaves without being seen

Durability

• After getting his femur broken by Kimiko, A-Train is nearly healed in a matter of days, his bones having fused back together overnight.
• While amped by Compound V, he was unharmed by running into Robin with enough force to reduce her body to bloody paste.

Weaknesses

• Heart Condition: As a result of using Compound V to enhance his abilities, A-Train eventually suffered a heart attack. The resulting heart condition prevented him from exerting himself as much as he used to. At the end of Season 2, A-Train claims to no longer have the condition, although it's unclear if he is being truthful.
• Superhuman Momentum: he had trouble controlling himself as he accidentally killed Robin Ward, Hughie's girlfriend by running into her, which reduced her to a shower of blood and made him accidentally swallow one of her molars.
• Limited Strength and Durability: While his strength and durability are still greater than a humans they are on the lower end of the Supe spectrum. His body is vulnerable to attack, Kimiko was able to break his leg fairly easily.
• Ego: A-Train is obsessed with remaining the fastest man in the world and a part of the Seven, thus he is willing to do anything to stay on top. This has led to extreme poor decision making, most notably his addiction to Compound V which both resulted in severe health problems and more reckless behavior, which ultimately started the events of the series. It also causes him to be extremely arrogant and cocky, which has allowed others such as Kimiko to get the drop on him.
